While Heidi was wrapping up the Class championship and the rest of the DA were racing in Baja, I was off the coast just West of the race course chasing Tuna!!!1:rolleyes:

Well I was there at the 1000 in spirit as it was my annual 11-day long range fishing trip.

My Bro Dennis Williams stole the show with a pending IGFA World record for 130lb class line. A Whopping 381.1 pound Yellow Fin Tuna.

A Big Change
by Bill Roecker

The 381.1-pound yellowfin tuna brought in by Dennis Williams of Carlsbad the day before Thanksgiving has found a high place for itself on the top ten tuna list. Rich Holland deserves some credit here for helping to create and maintain the list since the 90's.

Here’s how the revised list reads:

Top Ten Tuna

1. Mark Gasich, 399.6 pounds, Polaris Supreme, Clarion Island, November 15, 1992

2. Dave Manella, 395.4 pounds, Royal Polaris, Clarion Island, Feb 19, 1993

3. Curt Wiesenhutter, 388.75 pounds, Royal Polaris, San Benedicto Island, April 1, 1977

4. Dennis Williams, 381.1 pounds, Royal Star, Southern Banks, Baja, November 26, 2008

5. Al Herzog, 380 pounds, Qualifier 105, San Benedicto Island, January 11, 1981

6. Corky Yokoe, 376.38 pounds, Royal Polaris, Clarion Island, January 5, 1996

7. Joe Simmons, 370 pounds, Qualifier 105, Clarion Island, June 1989

8. Dick McKenzie, 364.8 pounds, Royal Polaris, Clarion Island, April 20, 1982

9. Dick Minor, 363.9 pounds, Polaris Supreme, Roca Partida, January 1993

10. Roger Hawtree, 361.9 pounds, Royal Polaris, Clarion Island, January 12, 1992

Previous no. 10:
Jim Nemlowill, 361.63 pounds, Red Rooster III, Socorro Island, December 6, 1981

*(John Carbone, Doc Ski and John Grabowski all pulled on a 377-pounder aboard Q-105 at Clarion Island December 14, 1991.)

Both fish were caught on Day 7, My 265 took about 1 hour and 15 minutes, the 381 took about 1-1/2 hours. We had one guy on one for 3+ hours and it weighed 340lbs.

The DA can fish too!!! LMAO

They can keep fish in the "RSW" Refrigerated Sea Water for 7 day's. Each fish is spiked, gilled and gutted and thoroughly washed before dropping it in the 18 degree salt water. Once you arrive at the dock the fish is placed in a ice slush bin and taken to the processor. You pick up you fresh vaccuum sealed fish the same day.

This fish is better quality than your Sushi bars. Most of that fish gets flash freezed for shipping and thawed out and refrozen and defrosted before hitting the plate.

We were about 660 miles South of Point Loma. Or about 70 miles outside of Cabo San Lucas on the Finger Bank! We fished all the way down and back as we found the different species, like Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, yellowtails etc.
