It's pretty depressing to have a season pass and not be able to ride becasue there is NO SNOW!
I think I would be going crazy by now if I had not gone to Mammoth on opening day, or Mt. Hood in August...thatwas awesome.
Don't get me wrong, I love the desert and have gone most every weekend since Halloween but alas, it is that time of year...and I would love to shred some snow.
This time last year there was already a good amount of snow in the local mountains, WHAT IS GOING ON? GLOBAL WARMING!!! haha, nah just kidding.
about a year ago on the 38:

You must have purchased a pass to the wrong resort... ;) Hell, I live in Lake Arrowhead so Snow Valley is only 20 minutes from my doorstep. The Big Bear resorts are 55 minutes away. I gave up on them years ago. Mammoth = 5 hours away and worth every minute of it.
Yesterday at Mammoth:

Ya over the past 2 years I have pretty much given up going to local mountains. Its just so worth it to do the Mammoth or Whistler trip. Local mountains have just been a let down recently and it looks like this year will be no different!

Haha, Def. got a pass at bear mt.
I do have a pass to June though...The student pass, it is worth it.
I can't afford a Mammoth pass. Besides, Mammy is a bit far for me to make weekend trips on the regular.

Yeah they definately get packed and the snow is not always good. Last season they had some real good days though. I go enough to definately make a season pass worth it, as a matter of fact I went enough at the end of last season to amlost pay for the pass, stoked!
I hope to get to Colorado this season if not Utah.
I went to Whistler this summer for mountainbiking and it seems like that place would be unreal...except for the fact that it rains alot. The locals said that was the only drawback.

Ive been to Whistler 3 times and each time it was perfect! They have a bitchin 7 mile long glacier run thats so rad! All of the runs there are pretty long so it makes it nice not having to get on the lift every 5min. Plus there are so many places to stay either right in the village or condos all around the mountain. I love it there. I know Jeff has been there a lot also.

Mammoth.........I do miss, three years living there full time and play'n. Those pictures of Drop-out, Wipe-out chutes and the chair line of 23. Fine memories of hang'n high and making turns. That was half a life ago.
Today, the snow is falling here in Highlands Ranch. 15 min. so. of Denver, Co. It is hard to get excited in this economy. But for those that can, A-basin & Loveland. 40+ inches just over the Thanks giving weekend. Summit Co. Break, Copper, etc. Almost the same amount. It is a good start to a better economy. :D

I looked at those pictures again..........cannot forget Scotty's, Paranoids and Philips.
Hole in the Wall and Hangman's. Sounds like a Local Gringo. Anyone else live there in 83, 84, 85.

Park City opened last week with hardly anything. It snowed all day today and my son road and said it was pretty good. The rest of the local resorts open up here tomorrow. Winter is finally here! New lift, new park....it's gonna be a fun season.
