I also posted this on Dezert Rangers forum.

The rules for 1450 will be up on our site today. www.drive-racing.com.
They are very similar to MDR's 1450 rules. We are still looking at the 1400 class as well as a possible 1500 class.

If we were to do a 1500 class we need to do it soon. Even though there are people out there with trucks that would more then likely fit into a 1500 class they would probably still need time to get them race ready.

We are open to working with a 1500 class. It would work best with simple rules. The only way we would create a 1500 class would be if it didn't dramatically reduce the 1450 class entries and if it would allow smaller budget limited trucks to get out and compete on a somewhat even playing field. We wouldn't want to take a class of 10 1450s and have it split into 2 classes of 5. If we could still keep 7 or 8 of the 1450s in that class and pick up 4 or 5 new entries for 1500 it would be great. Basically saying that 1450 would still have a turnout of 7 or 8 and 1500 would have between 7 and 8.

How do we as a group (DRIVE and the racers that this would effect) move forward from this point?

What is a 1500 class?

What is a 1500 class?

The 1500 class is a class thats been talked about for a little while. It would be a leaf sprung limited class. The ideal scenario would be a class with very few rules like 1450 but would be for leaf spring trucks. There are a bunch of different ideas on the dezert ranger forum. The goal would be to have a class where a very limited truck could go race and be competitive. By not putting too many rules on it people wouldn't have to spend a ton of money to fit into the class.

I would definitely like your opinion on it.

Thanks

I never raced the MORE series but from what I understand they split between a V8 with linked trucks in 1400 and leaf spring V6 and under trucks in 1450 with both being a sportsman class. Or make a mini metal class for any truck with a 6 cyl and under with or without cab/frame. Any truck that has leafs and a long travel front kit is 1450 anyway. You can't get more basic. The rub is when trucks like mine race against them they don't feel competitive. I want to run a sportsman class so in MDR Superstition series that is my only option. I would like to run class 8 but my I beam chevy isn't legal, even though I give up about 400LBS to a fiberglass cab class 8. If you choose to move my type of truck out of 1450, just keep it a sportsman class. Then the little guys are happy.

You'll stay in 1450. The potential 1500 class wouldn't effect that. I will post up some info tomorrow to try to clear things up.

By the rules in posted in the DRIVE Rulebook, more than 2/3 of the current 1450 trucks are not legal for the DRIVE series...

From the DRIVE rulebook:

"COMPETITION REGULATIONS
Must be built utilizing a Factory steel truck cab and retain full factory frame rails as manufactured."

I thought You said they were going to be "very similar to MDR's 1450 rules" Doug? Can you clarify this?

Sorry for the false alarm. That was an older version that we had but decided we were going in the wrong direction with it. I have attached the correct rules and get the site updated.

Now reads: COMPETITION REGULATIONS
Must be built utilizing a Factory steel truck cab. Must have working doors with factory-type hinges.

Again, sorry for the false alarm.
