Started out looking for something like the hood on The Truggy, but quickly discovered that I can't seem to find ANY hoods for buggies, truggies. I must be searching for the wrong thing, but I've tried "Class 1 hoods" Class 1 fiberglass" "etc.
Obviously someone's making them and they all seem to even look identical. Who's got em?
Thanx!

HOLY CRAP. I've been on, and still on, the mpd site...Their work is phenomenal! I mean, I know a little teeny bit about what it takes to 'glass, and that's incredible. Scared to call and ask because they aren't going to be giving that much time away!
Headed back to the site now...

If you interested in constructing or designing a hood for your car/truggy give us a call.
We have done a pretty cool one for a buggy, Ill see if I can have my man Brian post some pics.
In the mean time call the shop and ask for Jason about a buggy hood.

OK...I find it very cool that you would actually direct me to another company before pimping your own. You get respect from me. You've also got my business.
I've actually had your site up for the last day or two. I spent most of the night excitedly pointing out stuff to my wife who could not only care less but prefer that I take up caligraphy or needlepoint...or breathing as a hobby.
I'm really nowhere near the point of needing the hood. I guess I'm still debating if I want to build the truggy around the body or vise-versa(the NORMAL way). I guess if I'm going to spend the money on custom 'glass then I'll wait until I have the tubing in place and go from there. I predict frustrations in trying to get you guys specs/measurements over the 1000+ miles between us, worry about it when I get to that point I guess.

Yes, it is obviously easier to build the car first and then modify an existing hood or just simply make an original from scratch. The skin is primarily for cosmetics only and should take a second seat to the actual build of the car.
What I predict might be an easy solution. When you are at the point where the front of the car is finished we could send up our hood peice and then you could make any significant changes to the dimensions whether it be increasing or decreasing width and or length. (Think Splitting and Splicing). So that it fits the car to your liking. Then send it back and we would use this as a ruff point do all the finish work and create a plug, mold it, and then pull the new piece for your car.

Yeah, that sounds good. That wouldn't be too bad at all. I'm basically after the look the Herbst truggy and the one you posted both have, but with an atv style flare to atleast give the appearance of "fenders."
I do think that an existing hood could be VERY easily modified to fit my needs, but I kinda want to force a bit more airflow down through the tight engine compartment and out the sides/bottom. I don't like hot engine compartments and firewalls.
I do have some skills with a pencil, too, so that might help. I'm really pretty flexible on things, so not worried! Now I just need to get busy.
Kind of a rude joke when they shut your plant down for a month...now I'm home for 4 weeks and too broke to buy my steel...

The Penhall cars look great. I always liked those, the new Alpha cars (by MaQueen), and the Porter cars.

Craig Stewart has a truggy hood. It is pretty cool looking. Call him @ Stewarts Raceworks 619.449.9728. I will try and find a photo...

I found a few of the buildup and a few shots of other trucks, no truggy hood...
I'm looking for a really busy hood. Scoops, louvers, funnels, etc.. For some reason, it seems like the Fords always have the sweetest hoods. I think I want something like a TT hood, split down the middle of each fender radius then swept in quickly to a rounded point. So I get the flare-up over the tires, but nothing actually over the tires, and then an exaggerated L-88/Corvette style scoop, where it raises about 2" in the middle then dumps in...I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about. Right?

Yep, That is pretty much our style yet we still manage to make it look good and stylish.
I think it would look cool to add a little flared out rise/ or lip right on the edge of the wheel well section.

Well, that wasn't as hard as I thought! Now does that hood come with a free custom-built chassis?

What the hell...I didn't get a reply notice...
That's a very sharp looking hood. I wish I had the patience for 'glass work. It's def a skill....

Have you considered a custom aluminum hood? You can get more creative with the design and I personally think that a hand made alum. hood adds a bit more craftsmanship to your car.

Aluminum does offer those advantages, but also requires a bit more $,$$$.

I'm actually thinking about just doing the whole damn car up in circle track plastic sheet for $30 and worry about not hitting stuff. Lighter than fiberglass and aluminum and a TON easier to work with!

That is true in some cases but, that mostly depends on the design.

The FiberwerX Organization would not be where we are today if it s was not for doing the homework and to strive for progression.
By the way thanks for bumping all these threads from years back. It is fun to go through them again.
