Hi everybody, i talked to a few people and they tried to explain to me about running a fuel pump that will tap a line from the fuel bowls level sight hole back to the tank and will keep it from flooding my motor when going slow through ruff terrain and bad angles . Will anybody help me out with understanding this more if i missed anything. Thanks

Basically you take a little pump like a Facet pump and tap into the fuel bowl to remove excess fuel from the carb to keep it from washing out your cylinders and having an over rich situation. Even with a spring loaded needle in the carb the float will still have excess movement in the fuel bowl over the ruff stuff and in off camber areas. The pump will remove all of the excess fuel over the desired float angle and return it to the fuel cell. This can be done on a Holley or Weber carb.

Try to keep it simple. Try lowering your fuel pressure 1st. 4 pounds of pressure is plenty. Also lower your fuel level in the bowl. Bottom of the sight glass is ok.

That set up works very well. I would definitely recommend using it.

That pump will probably help though it should not be necessary and adds extra risk. There are many holley and demon dp carbs out there that dont have a problem, including mine. I run bowl vent extenders and offroad needles with a holley red pump (5 psi) with no regulator, though a regulator is probably a good idea. Moroso makes a foam insert that acts like a fuel cell to reduce sloshing, plus you can connect the vertical vent tubes with a length of tubing cut open in the middle.

I have this set up on my carb, it's called a sucker pump. C&J engineering did the mods and sold me the pump after recommending the modifications. It works perfectly at any angle and in the whoops.

This setup is quite the norm in the duel carb VW world.
