Also posted in the Suspension/Steering and Driveline Shop forums.......

I am in Santa Clarita, approximately 30 miles North of Los Angeles off the 14 below the Antelope Valley and the high Desert. I am looking for qualified leads from anyone with personal experience with someone who can accurately work on all apects my Type I play cars. My son has a mid-90's Chenowth open wheel car and I have a pretty serious 5/1600+ car.

We play with these things pretty hard and as we all know, consequently they need repairs, TLC and a little prep........at least something after every time we go out it seems. I have tried both regular shops and guys on the side here in Santa Clarita over the last few years with a plethora of issues and upgrades and overall I have not been completely happy with any of them. Even with pre-scheduled drop-off dates, the cars come back untidy, incomplete, half-ass, hurried and NEVER EVEN CLOSE TO ON TIME.

The lack of finding someone complete, knowledgeable and honest has got me close to selling the car program and sticking with the motorcycles. I know them well but with work, home, an RV, trailer and all the rest I just don't have time to look after the cars too.

Can anyone make any recommendation for a good and regular Type I off-road mechanic in or anywhere near Santa Clarita? I would appreciate the help very much.

Thanks in advance.

Yes I have, thank you.

Between the cigarettes and the beer drinking that seems to commence sometime after breakfast most days, general work just doesn't seem too important over at Prowlers. I have seen a bright spot there once or twice over the years, but not for a long time. Prowlers is at the top of my Black List.

Not THAT close to you, about an hour drive. But for Type I motors, you should check out Leonard Perez aka "The Mailman" - his RACE motors don't need to be touched for an entire season. If he builds you a lower compression motor it will go and go and go. He has a few tricks that I didn't know about until buying one of his motors. Kenny Majors is another guy you should be looking into, but he's even further away from you (I BELIEVE). These are RACE motor builders, but again, SUPER reliable setups from both.

For a shop for other regular maintenance, I know of a great shop that is also about an hour from you. Brandon at Sinister does GREAT work and is usually very affordable.
