Does anyone know a good engine builder/tuner in Southern California for VW type 1? I have been looking for a long time, and cannot find anyone reliable. Thanks

Leonard Perez "Mailman" motors... same motor Greg builds, half the cost... might sound ridiculous, but it's true. Leonard worked at FAT for like 12 years or so.
Good luck.

All the motor guys are up to date on what the other guy is doing. A lot of guys will take a competitors motor in to the other guy to have it gone through, this is where my motor guy learned a few tricks.

It's a type 1 motor, not much else you can do. MM motors speak for themselves. Those who know, know.

A similar motor might be a more accurate statement

Brian has some valid arguments and experience on this one directly

True and not so true. Cam grinds, head work mods, etc can all make vastly different power. Am I a proponent of Mailman motors. Hell yes! If money was no object would I have a FAT motor in my car at all times. You bet your azz!
