It went really well today, everything held together for once. The right rear wheel seal was leaking a little bit but we finally figured out the problem and thats good to go. All we have to do is change the clutch and we should be good to go!

Broke upper ball joint twice, ripped off the rear shock mount and re welded twice, finally a third time the shock and re-weld mount came off, 3 rear flats cutting the rims at the beads each time all 3 wheels. Finally finished on 3 shocks, no upper ball joint and I even managed to break the seat in half too.

Special Thanks to the Acme and the Davidsons/OMA MM5 for your help and to my race buddies Ron and Paul who put in the extra effort for me.

Well what a brutal race on everyone.....we had a rough day, broken fuel pickup and a broken ball joint but we finished. Had a blast thanks to everyone for a great race. Seemed like the 9's were doing battle til the end. Kwood congrats on longer day, looked like you all had a good time and that is what counts. Thanks again everyone, I wish I personally was making the May race but Matt and Gary will be putting the 990 out there as a force of contention.....congrats to all on a great race.

WOW!!! I thought we had a rough day haha...congrats on a great finish fighting the adversity. That was a fast but brutal course....I had a great time running the second half.

Definitely a really fun day, it was awesome racing with you guys on the fourth lap, especially when you shot past us like a rocket over that hill! Too bad we both had problems towards the end of that lap though. Congrats again on another strong finish.

Hey bud sorry to hear about your problems, it must have been a hand full (no pun intended) keeping it rubber side down. I know you were hauling when you passed me around race mile 2 or 3. Hope your not hurt that bad and can make it for the race in May.

Thanks everyone for letting come down from Sacramento and racing with you guys. It was last minute so I didn't have much pit help. Thanks Chris Haney for your help, and the Davidsons there for any help I needed. I had my engine builder from Las Vegas help me out and he drove the first 2 plus laps, his first desert racing driving ever so it was great from him to get the car to me. We had a blinking oil light the whole day and he got a flat on the second lap. I got in halfway through the third lap and had to play catch up the rest of the day. I have to hand it to you guys that was one rough course, but I'll take a second place for my first ever trip to barstow. Hey Bud I hope your wrist recovers. Next time to barstow I'll study more. Great Job to #987 for consistent winning laps. I was just happy to load it on the trailer and not tow it out of those mountains. Peace Forest Creasy Team Mach 5.

Talked with rash after the race, they got driven over not sure of the details but it caused some damage on the right side, then later they lost the left side and snapped an axle...rough day for them. I ma sure they will post the details though.

Sorry to hear about the Rash car that sucks. We were also taken for a ride by a 1400 truck on lap 5 going down the hill into the sand wash before the first hodge road crossing. It was our first race ever in a 9 car and I drove the whole way. Our plan was just to try and finish and not run upfront. By the 5th lap I was getting pretty tired and didnt want to get in any of the fast guys way so I was driving way of the race line. Then with no warning, no tap we were taken for a ride.

Thats not cool...it seemed like horn use was pretty minimal this race, we had a big problem with bikes/quads on the course, we had on close coming out of start finish that I could have reached out and smacked the guy and another real close one with a bike coming up a hill on the course as we were coming down. Did you get the number on the truck? Hope there was no damage for you.

[Rash Racing]

First congrats to Nate & Chris they were movin all day. Cody was hit by a 1400 truck that took out the right spindle and some body panel damage. We still have to talk to them in person. It is the desert.:(Then on the last lap I broke the right spindle and while trying to get to our next pit with the broken spindle I broke an axle. This was the hardest race for us since we started.. had alot of good help out there to finish.

I also heard that the Rash car was hit by a 1400 truck on course..any details? hope all is ok.

Well, first off congrats to Nate and Chris. I don't know who drove the first half, but that was some fun racing. Here are some pictures. The 1400 truck hit me from the side and ran over the hood of the car. The rearend of the truck grabbed the front tire and bent the arms and spindle. First time I have ever had a 35 in. tire on my hood in a race. I think he wanted me to check his air pressure? I guess that is offroad racing or is it???????????????

I wonder if the 1400 that got into you guys was the same one that got DQ'd at the Oraf 500 last year for excessive nerfing. Apparently he was banned but maybe he got it lifted? It's a white Ranger...the owner refers to it as a "Trophy Ranger"

The "Trophy Ranger" wasn't at this race so it couldn't have been him, but I did read somewhere that he plans to be at the 500 this year.

Different guy. That was John Vaughan. By the way he was absolved of all wrongdoing by Jim. He was DQ'd before even talking to him about the incident
