I am having computer problems. My computer is about 4 years old. When I turn on my computer I have no signal and a black screen. The fan on the PC is blowing. This goes on for about 20 minutes then the computer turns on. If I turn off the computer and turn it back on the same thing happens again.

I tried to trouble shoot the problem and thought my computer is over heating but I can have the computer off all night and turn it on in the morning and the same thing is happening. I checked the hard drive for errors and nothing. I checked all the plugs. Cleaned up the inside dust. Both fans work. ??????????

What do you think the problem might be? Time for new PC:confused:

unfortunatly i have no idea... but i can say that new computers arnt to expensive now. You can get a pretty dam good one for about 800 with a 22" LCD Moniter... you should take a look at em.

I unplugged everything last night so no energy was going threw the PC. I plugged it back in this morning and it came right on. After a half hour I turned it off then turned it back on again and nothing. Just black screen and fan blowing. I think maybe it is over heating. I am going to open up it back up give it one more cleaning and make sure no wires are blocking the air flow. If that don't fix the problem I will be getting a new computer.

I have been checking out some prices and there are some good deals out there.

I could be your video card, when you open it up make sure the fan on the video card is working!!! If that isn’t it, then check the fan on the CPU.

I would suggest backing up your hard drive, so when if finally doesn't turn on you're not up a creek. Because that's what comes next.

This happend to some of the computers at my work a few weeks back. They had left them on over the weekend. One would not start at all and the other two would come on and shortly after turn off. Our computer guy said there must have been some kind of power surge in the area that had damaged the power supplies. He replace them and it took care of the problem.

I erased everything on my computer and reinstalled it back to it's orignal state and it still doing the same thing so I will be getting a new computer.

How long have you had a computer tell it breaks down or start acting strange?

4 years 5 years?

This is a 4 year old computer and the first time I had a problem with it. I did get alot of use out of it though.

i can't remember the name of the outfit but they advertise that they can diagnos and fix the thing without even coming over or you taking the thing in. i would imagine a search would turn up the name. i'll try to find out.

i searched ' home computer diagnosis' and there are quite a few companies. pcdocpro was the first listed. might save you some bucks if the nerds can help you out.
