What are the latest options for labeling a racecar dash???
I don't want to use the "stick on's"

Thanks

I used our lasermarking machine here at work for one of my buddies dashes, it turned out really well...

i can see two options: one is acid etching, but that leaves a mark that is really not feasable if you want to look at it with any certainty.

the other is making placards. Meneke is who we have at our work (bio-pharm industry) for the NEMA4X skids--let me tell you, if you clean your surfaces before attaching, they will stick like the dickens--much better than a labeler.

Thanks for the info.
I think I'm just going to do it the traditional way....Dash Labels from Mckenzies/Kartek

If you do like Ramsey said, it'll be cheaper and cleaner looking. You can put a whole row is switches on one placard, the placard will be thinner than a generic label from kartek, and it'll say exactly what you want it to say. The placards I ordered for our race truck had 3 or 4 double row labels on each one and they were about 5 bucks each.

Hey Zambo,

if you want the clean professional labels that Jimco and others use to label their dashes (as shown below) you want this guy:

Yeah, those are awesome looking but the reason I went with the trophy shop labels is they are very inexpensive and the dude can make them in a day or two.

A lot of road racers use front panel express. I've heard great things about them. I downloaded the program and its pretty easy to do.

p-touch with a large font...way cheap..or ramseys trophy guy..I have always found that it is best to make the labels as large as you can...small type vanishes when the house is rockin. And stick to black on white or white on black anything else gets lost at night unless you have white led lights inside the cab.

Any trophy shop should be able to make labels like these no sweat. You just have to take measurements and draw up a picture of what you want. I just used the trophy shop right around the corner here near downtown but there's nothing special about these guys. I found the receipt, I paid 4 bucks each for the 3 switch labels and 5 bucks each for the 4 switch labels.

Hey James and anybody else interested I have a guy I work with (we build custom yachts) he makes all our labels and labels for many other boat companies. He does awesome work and is super competitive price wise (Cheaper then buying those lame ones from McKenzies or Kar Tek) He does custom sizes, faunts, colors, thicknesses etc. he can even do back lit.........Hit me up with a PM if you are interested, quick turn around also like a day or 2. I use them on every car I wire.........

I worked in an engraving (trophy) shop all 4 years of high school. I engraved all sorts of crazy crap and more of these little labels/badges than any of you ever care to imagine.

These things are VERY easy to make and as many have said - very cheap from an engraving/trophy guy. Last time I was in the shop was 10 years ago or so and even then we had more colors/materials than I care to imagine. I'm sure there are only MORE choices available now. You get to pick your background color - as well as the text color.

We also had multiple fonts - some easier to read than others. Add in laser technology for engraving and the font count is huge.

Even with the colors/technology of today (thinner plastic so it doesn't stick off the dash as much), etc. on this stuff the engraved ones still look semi "cheap" to me.

I have been looking into possibly doing something like this. Any sign cutter or vinyl shop should be able to do it in any font/color I want. I just gotta figure out what they charge for it....

*edit* - trying to get link to work. Here's the pic I am talking about - it's just small. It can be found at the Skunkworks link below

To go with the last post.

I really liked how the #1719 guys labeled their gauges.
