Transmission to skid plate clearance?

How close could I safely mount the pan of a T400 away from the bottom skid plate?..This is a front engine truggy layout...Thanks!

How thick of skid plate? I run a 1/4" thick aluminum plate with 1/8" of clearance. Any thinner plate, I would use 1/4" minimum clearance.

try to find a hard alloy like a 7000 series aluminum. The lower # alloys are softer and more prone to bending.
