Lots of people wanted to go on this Epic ride, some chose not to. Why? The entertainment factor and overall sucess was priceless.
A couple minor injuries, a couple broken bikes, 1 wrong way rider, one sick rider. Not bad at all considering the huge # of people.

Hey Troy, this is James. I wanted to say thanks again for all you help and helpin myself and sore George cross the border. You really know your s**t when it comes to baja. Also, Thanks for all your support to all the guys the first day. Even though your bike wouldn't start the first day, at least you got to ride that BADAZZ Kawi KLX of Georges on the second day. I know George really appreciated you letting him drive your truck the rest of the trip. Even though he was in serious pain from his dismay the first day, he still had an awesome time.
On a second note, I think I left my spare 18" tube in your truck. Someone used my spare front tube which is totally cool.
On a third note, I detailed my KXF-450 Kawi yesterday and started tearing down the motor and found why my bike lost compression on the end of the second day just brfore the Ratllesnake trail ride. I found water in the motor oil. So I believe it may have got so hot from the BADAZZ hi speed beach ride that a gasket cracjked, split or whatever and lost all my coolant. Which in turn, caused all my problems. Time to completely rebuild the motor and go by a HONDA 450x for Baja next year on the next BBB. Call me bro, and we'll hook up and stay in contact. Thanks again for all your help. bro.

He went down in the silty chewed up rocky section, aka baja 500 rm. 296.
Dr. Veronica spent more time cleaning the silt off him than instaling the 7 stiches.
I was trying to cheer him up by mis-translating, (its comon to do a full rectal exam for these type of cases) Ray didnt speak a word of spanish, so i REALLY had him going for a while. :)

To everyone on the BBB, I just want to say I had the time of my life. As my second time riding in MXico, this was by far the best time I've ever had. Cameron Steel, Johnny Campbell and especially Tim Morton are by far the BEST guys to go with when you really want to experiance BAJA. My first impression of Cameron was he was a crazy, relentless, badazz that turned boys into men when it comes to riding in Baja, but after getting to know him throughout the weeknd ride, He is the most awesome trail rider and organizer I've ever met. We raised alot of money for the orphanage and I brought 4 riding jerseys and a boat load of stickers for all the kids. (I ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOU TO DO THE SAME. THE JERSEYS WERE A BIG HIT WITH THOSE KIDS) For those of you who haven't been to Baja or question the safety of riding down there, Cameron and Tim Morton are the guys to go with. They both share the passion and vision of the MXico community and locals and helped raise a TON of money for the orphanage and Ranchers. I can't thank them enough for what they do.
My Kawi broke down towards the end of the second day and I thought I was gonna be stuck. Tim pushed me all the way into town where they had already set up a chase truck to pick me and my bike up. For being pushed by another motorcycle, we were hallin azz. When we arrived at the gas station to pick me up, 5 little boys came over to greet me, so, I pulled my goggles off and tossed them up in the air at them. (I'll post pics later today) NIMROD saw that and came over with 5 MONSTER Energy drinks and hooked them up. They even wanted my autograph and I'm a nobody down there. I thought that was really cool. Again, I was so amazed at the professionalism and responsibility of all those involved in planning the BBB.
Baja is the best place to ride when you really want to be challenged or just cruise on the beach.
Next time, I'll be more prepaired with the bike and hopefully not break down next time, but it's good to know Tim has ALOT of HONDA'S to choose from. I wanted to say thanks to Jamie Campbell for calming me down after my bike broke. I was pretty pissed off and he just started talkin in the truck and told me some pretty crazy story's about Johnny which I vowed to keep a secret. LOL.
So too all the riders who I was honored to ride with, it was an awseome time and thanks to those who helped along the way. I met alot of guys that share the same passion for trail riding as I do.
Cameron, Johnny, Tim, Jen.............You guys are the best. Thanks for marking out the best trails and keeping all of us safe. You guys did an outstanding job. Next time, I would be honored to come down and help mark the course for BBB #2. Just email me and I'm there.
Those of you who couldn't make the ride for whatever reason, YOU SHOULD HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS MAN!!!!!!!! TO BAD 4U! LOL
Thanks again BAJABOUNDMOTO.COM, CAMERON STEEL AND THE REST OF THE BBB RIDERS. when i get a chance to go thru my pics, I'll post them. I've got some really good ones.

Somehow, somewhere...I must have done something right...
This was my 2nd time ridin' in Baja (1st time was "The Rip" 2 months ago!). I'm blessed to have El Gato for a friend (a.k.a. Bruce Hendel the VP Race Fuel Godfather)...he TOLD me that "You ARE riding' The Rip... Period!" He's from Jersey; so, I don't argue...I just go with it (I'm short, fat, slow and very skeeeered!).
At The Rip, PAB says,"You ARE goin' to The Beach Blast!" Look, PAB's in the Mafia...the San Clemente MAFIA!
So, I end up at the Blast..."Circle Jerk" final, Hill-Climb...rode like a punk, "Foot-Down" Short-Legged Loooooser!
Oh, and, get this: The Real BADASS named "Campbell" is Brian Campbell from Bakersfield (The Bako-Posse...posers need not apply!)
There were 3 women there makin' us guys look pathetic: most impressive of all was Olivia... Fairly new to the game and has bigger "balls" than most guys...prolly 'cause she's married to Psycho! That chick rocks!
I can't wait to go back...think it'll be for the Mil...my 1st race in Mexico...I think we need a DA Class 40 team...?
I want to give a very sincere Shout Out to El Gato, PAB & Napoleon (Tim Morton...an Angry Man!)...you guys are nuckin' futs!

Wow what an epic weekend. Where do I start? After watching guys tumble head over heals on Chilly’s Challenge I thought I was in over my head. Oh wait I was in over my head. This trip was my 5 time riding a real bike, not an 80 in sandals on the beach. After years of traveling in Baja with my Dad I decided to by a motorcycle to live my dreams and explore the peninsula I have come to love. After a last minute call to Tim Morton, like 1:00 pm Wednesday, it was on. I headed over to PABs house Thursday morning and loaded up. Up bright and early Friday for a jaunt down the highway to El Acambero to gear up and eat breakfast. As we headed out from Santa Thomas toward the Pacific I began to settle in and relax. Taking the easy way down the hill I pulled in to watch the carnage of Chilly’s Challenge. Man those guys can ride! I rode around the corner to get a few doughnuts in on the beach and snap a few photos. It was there that I realized what and epic weekend this was shaping up to be. Our first fuel stop at Erendira was perfect. All the prep and hard work of BBM, PAB and crews was paying off. Everyone was fueled and hydrated in minutes! These guys have it down to science. We forged on south along the beach to San Antonio Del Mar for the circle jerk contest and lunch. Again, everything was perfect. Sandwiches and great entertainment as riders roosted each other in the soft sand below. We continued south to take in the sights of the coast. Killer single track, rock woops, farm roads, shipwrecks, quatros casas, pirate bar, beach sections and on it went till we reached the salt ponds and the top of the mountain above San Quintein. What a killer view, the pacific to the west, the bay to the south and east, and fields to the north. Down the lions back to the Old Mill we went. A quick shower and it was dinner time. Up bright and early for day two. The hill climb was epic. Jen Morton spanking more than half of the field. Man she can ride. Maybe some day I will take a stab at that hill, maybe. Back up the beach to Gaston’s for a killer breakfast spread and fuel. A full belly and I was feeling good. Rock woops and more farm roads. Shipwrecks looked fun with some 3 foot peelers coming through and I was wishing I had a board. More killer single track and farm roads. Fueled up and in to the Red Rattler trail. It was hot and the brush was thick. Black mud and a hill climb from hell. After a all the carnage had slowed and everyone was up top it was my turn. A took a few deep breaths and hit it. Up the first rock section only to loop out on the second rock and end up in the trees. Johnny Campbell was there to help me up and calm me down. After a few stalls someone rode my bike up for me, thanks. The broken KTM came around the corner and Colton took it to the top of the mountain blazing his own trail and back down to the trail. Santa Martha Orphanage was a great experience and it felt good to give back and hang with the kids. Playing football, skateboarding and talking with the kids was cool. Back out towards the Beach where we rode some epic single track. The main group pulled away to tackle the double black diamond. Crazy rock cliff and trees, again I was blown away with skill and balls of the riders. Coyote Cals was killer. I had a great dinner and conversation around the fire with lots of cool people. Next came the awards- the hill climb- pro and rookie, the boy scout, the squirrel, the circle jerk, rider of the trip, and the best effort award. I was honored and blown away when my name was called for the best effort. Thanks! It was an honor and an experience I will never forget. Learning Baja from the best riders in baja was amazing. I gain so much knowledge and am so stoked to have been a part of it! Thanks for all the pointer and encouragement.
A huge thanks to Tim and Jen Morton, Jamie Campbell, Chilly, Jim, Flaco and BBM crew for all the hard work and organization. You guys are amazing and I will be riding with you very soon. Thanks PAB, Nimrod, Greg, Big Daddy, Lobster and all the pit support. Nice work everyone. Viva Baja! Cant wait for next year……..

To everyone who saw my KX-450F being trailered and dripping oil, here's what happend. After tearing my motor down and finding what happened, it was determined that Kawi, in their infinate knowledge and engineering failed to make the HOT START cable long enough. And when I installed my SCOTT stabilizer with a taller bar mount and new Renthal Fat Bars, it stretched the cable so much that it kept the HOT START dampner open about 20-30% which allowed my motor to run excessively hot which in turn overheated my motor and blew the gaskets internally and flooded the motor with coolant and
long with the head gasket which is where the oil came from. They make an after market pull button to fix this problem eliminating the need for a cable. So that is the reason I failed to finish the ride. So now I've gotta split the case, rebuild the motor and next time i'll be ready and these little issues will be put to rest. I WILL FINISH THE NEXT RIDE FOR SURE, THIS BIKE HALLZ AZZ AND THE SUSPENSION IS DIALED JUST THE WAY I LIKE IT. Anyway, for those of you who own kawi's, you might want to check the hot start cable and replace it right away with the aftermarket button so you don't have the same "EXPENSIVE" problem I had.
But still, PAB, www.bajaboundmoto.com, JC & bro, Chilly, and ALL the BBB crew, this trip really advanced my riding endurance and capability and I can't say it enough how much fun I had. I'm definately IN for the next Baja Beach Bash #2!!!!!!!!!!!

- Great group of people – I met some really cool people and had a great time riding with you
- No squirrels (except Manny)
- Corey Fowler, the new rider Mulisha group guy – not many riders, new or vet, give an effort like that kid did
- Many super incredible meals
- Lots of awesome wrecks all 3 days with no damage
- Bummed nobody got the Bounty on either Cameron or Lobster
- $4400 for Rancho Santa Marta
- $1830 so far for 113x, Luis Garcia, with more rolling in
- $1000+ for RacersAndRanchers.com
- Awesome trails – 9 brand new virgin trail sections, a few old Baja Bound Moto sections now exposed, and a some known oldies (and 2 new sections we decided to save ‘till next time)
- Awesome support truck Staff (Flaco, BigDaddy, Nimrod, Johnny Campbells Way Faster Little Brother) and support buggies (Vic Curl w/ camera crew and Greg Distefano, MotoManX, and Nicole)
- I got to roost with the infamous Jesse Beck (Baja swimming champ and overall gnarly dude)
- Brian Sweany (team Bako, aka: 404x, aka: 4 Stooges) doing Chillys Challenge without dabbing – full Hero of the downhill I say (I guess we need to make gnarlier hills)
- Bruce Hendle (VP fuel) narrowly avoiding serious injury crashing at bottom of Chilly Challenge
- Brian Mathews (Penhall Fab?) getting SO lucky with his eyes closed too ballsy bomb down C.C. – IMO the entire group dodged a couple bullets on those two almost incidents
- Chicks making it down C.Challenge!
- Brian Cornelius (High Roller tie-downs) seriously roosting the crap out of Johnny Campbell during 2 sand race motos
- Mitch (mtzracing) doing his Solo ride – some of the most aged minds of Baja discussing Mitch…. Tim & Cameron not sure what to do next and Johnny C.s answer (I don’t think I should type it, damn funny!)
- Jennifer Morton easily trials’ing that ridgeback leaving the beach, showing the guys how it’s done!
- Me beating Colton in both the Circle Jerk and the Hillclimb (come’on, he’s a real Pro and I’m old)
- Heartbreak for Marcus Brown almost clearing the hillclimb, SO close, 6th place, 5 guys cleared it
- Brian Campbell (team Bako, aka: 404x, aka: 4 Stooges) absolutely killing the Hill all 4 attempts – very deserving of King Of the Hill status
- Josh Wellington (Metal Mulisha) highest on Hill of novice group, Prince of the Hill (higher than many Pros!)
- Jen Morton Queen of the Hill, higher than many Pros who then had to wear pink ribbon getting beat by a chick! (Sweany can go down hill and Chilly can trials ride but Jen whooped ‘em both, plus others!)
- I’m proud of myself for my “start” technique (they said “anything goes”) at the Hillclimb Final and almost got taken out (tackled) by Hendle as I passed him farther up the Hill
- Brian Sweany dogging me in a single-track then full-on wad hitting giant rock – nice radiator
- Supreme comedy hill climbing out of Red Rattler Trail (I guess the hill is called Carnage Hill now)
