Why not just drop a few teeth on the back sprocket?

With a 14 in there you run the chance of having a rock get kicked up there and causing the chain to derail.

Just a thought.

Get Baja Bound Moto on here. He can tell you what kind of gearing a CR250 can pull!

Plenty of room there for 1 more tooth.
We raced many many cr250's in Baja. The funniest was running 37 tooth rears and the chain would hit the hub at the sprocket bolt areas. We generally ran 39's.
I kinda doubt you're planning to go to that extent.

14/48 is a pretty good all around gearing I run 14/45 in the dezert on my CR250
