What is the advantages of foam? Are those mainly for fuel/liquid fires? What does a hand held extinguisher go for price wise?

The great thing about foam in our opinion is the fact it will cool down the source of the fire as well and blanket the burning ability.

Look at it like this. in an off-road car a heat source mixed with oil is probably one of the number one causes of fire other than fuel. The headers are probably your number one heat source. Now foam sprays on top your engine intake, heads, and headers will not only extinguish your fire but will also cool down the source so the fire does not re-ignite.
