normal resivoir vs bypass...torn

alright guys i alright spent a grip of money on my front coilover beams...now im on to the rear...iv noticed a pair of resivoirs is about 600, wheres a pair of bypass's is about 1200. realistically im not going to be taking my truck out every weekend, probably a few times a year. im on a tight budget for the rear, and would i be able to get away with just resi's? also would i honestly even notice the difference?

depends what the set-up is like on how hard you plan to run it...you have a lot more control on the rebound side and can control the kick and it's a bit more supple on the downstroke.

well my setup is this...front = destroy motorsports beams/radius arms w/ 14'' king coilovers
rear is going to be the deaver race pack with destroy shackle

talk to a few of the 1450 racers.../but i would guess bypass would be beneficial in helping the rear keep up with the front...sounds like it's gonna turn out pretty nice....if you want to go down to 2 inch i think king makes a 2 inch bypass for 350

maybe the price is more but in the prerunner series you can get them cheaper than 1200/pair. i think they quoted me 525/each for 2.5 inch.

If you don't have plans to use your truck all that much save your money and just get some 2.5 non-bypass shocks. Most likely if you only take it out a few times a year, you're not the type of person that will be testing and adjusting the bypass tubes anyway. Dont take that the wrong way.

You see too many people buying bypass shocks who dont know how they work, how to adjust them , won't adjust them but they know they look cool and everyone wants them.

Use the $$$ you save towards gas to get you out to the dez.

MotoX - I think that would work fine if the front wasn't nice but it sounds like it is. You can get bypases decently cheap (under the 1200) and it would keep the front and back in good harmony i think. Look on the rdc classifieds and go-desert classifieds. sometimes you can get lucky.

the bypass shocks make tuning much easier, which makes them a necesity for a race vehicle but not for an occasional use toy. on my pro-2 i have my bypasses almost closed after a season of tuning and i have one of the best handling trucks on the track. maybe this is different in the dezert but on our tracks the bypass tubes are not needed other than for easy adjustment. as far as cost goes you can get used 2.5-3" non bypas shocks dirt cheap and they will perform just as well once you get them shimmed properly. i think it really boils down to how easily your shocks need to be adjusted. time or money.
