whats a good way to pop the steering linkage off the spindle? i cant seem to get the sucker off, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I usually spray some penetrant on the tapered portion and let it setup for about 10 min then TAP the sides of the spindle that the linkage is attached to with a hammer. That usually frees it up. If that does not work back the nut off until it is about 1/2 a thread above the threaded portion and tap it (down) with a hammer on the nut until it pops off. They do make a tool for removing them but it usually messes up the boots or they just flat break.

use a BFH to hit the nuckle, but leave the nut loose on there so you dont hit the threads with a wild swing.

GAHHH, now i can't get the lower ball joint off, i've tried banging on it while it has pressure and doesn't have pressure, yet it doesn't show any sign of comin loose, any ideas?

Hit it harder, it will come off eventually.

A good trick that I use is, Hermonics. Take 2 hammers and hit the spindle @ the same time.

Even better if you have access to one is an air hammer with a large flat blunt tip-let it rip on it till it falls out!

Pickle forks usually work well with a 3lb sledge.

I don't like using pickle forks. I've seen failures with tierod ends that were caused by using the wrong size pickle fork, and/or just the way it stresses the socket. Once, a ball just popped out of the socket and that was on the street.

I think the best method is the Big Hammer,.. and sometimes, the TWO big Hammers.
