Just wondering what shade helmet shield is the most popular? The clear does not work when the suns hitting you in the face and the smoked ones make night driving a challenge!
Are those orange ones any good? They have that "Blue Blockers" type of color to them, if you know what those are. What about a yellow shade?

yellow and orange both have simlar characteristics. In sales at races, and here at the shop, they seem to be the #1 choice of racers during the day and at night. They are called "High Definition" for a reason. Next time your at contingency, go to McKenzies, Kar-tek, PCI, ORW, and ask to look at one (or even next time your at the mall, look through some yellow sunglasses) Things really do seem more defined, in day and night. I personally think it helps with glare too.
Tinted lenses are exactly that, just tinted clear ones that help make things less bright. If those work really well for you during the day, don't forget you can change them at pit! The CX1 Shields (Most new Shoei Helmets) are clip in and can be done in 10 seconds by someone who has done it before. Even the screw in ones take under 30 seconds.
To be completly honest, Blue Shields just look cool, I haven't noticed any different from the tint.
Don't be afraid to ask to look at one (through one) at contingency, just about everyone will should have them at the race!

I http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/cool.giff you are racing in the daytime you would use a clear shield or a smoked or Blue Blocker(mirrored) shield, dusk or night a clear or amber shield. Amber is great for helping to see in the dust.If you are starting in the late afternoon and going into the night, you might think about a clear shield and wear a cheep pair of sun glasses and toss them away when it gets dark. Oh ya Parker Pumper sells shields for almost all helmets and in all shades.
