Hopefully I'll be starting my car up for the first time here in a couple of weeks. I am assuming due to a new build it's not going to fire right up and everything will be smooth. Is there anything I need to worry about with the P/S (charlynn) not being bleed yet? I'll make sure there is fluid in the tank but the lines will have air. I could capoff the P/S pump or is that bad for the pump?

I jacked up the front end so I could turn the tires easily and then cranked the motor over without the ingition on. Crank it over and turn the wheels bump to bump. That bleeds the bulk of the air.

There's wasn't any issue with mine. I did like Bill mentioned. Jacked up the front and started it up. turned the wheel a few times, topped off the fluid, rinse and repeat.

If it's a new engine, then i would NOT crank it to start bleeding the P/S system...You want that motor to start & run ASAP...

Take the weight off the suspension, crack the fittings on the pump to allow air/fluid to escape and turn the wheels lock to lock. Tighten the fittings when the fluid stops having air bubbles in it as it escapes. Continue the lock to lock until the level in the reservoir stops dropping. Then fire up the engine and keep an eye on the fluid level.

My last project I rigged up something in my drill that let me spin the p/s pump. I used that to bleed the system before I started the engine.

Let the engine run for a minute, then slowly turn the wheel.

I did this too. Now I have fluid in the system, so when I start the motor I won't burn anything up. Once it's running I'll keep an eye on all the fluid levels. We should have the car running some time next week!!
