Hello everyone!
The name is Mike and I've been reading the forums here for a few months now. I have just recently got interested in prerunners after seeing the ford raptor and I've decided to build up my 06 Silverado 4x4 into a desert machine, even though there isn't much desert around here in Calgary, AB. I do a lot of downhill biking in the mountains here in western Canada and my Chevy will hopefully become the ultimate shuttle truck to get me to the top of the mountains faster.
My plans with the truck are below but could change at any time.
Dixon Bros. Racing front 4x4 LT kit
Dixon Bros. rear cantilever suspension/Deaver springs (bed will stay intact for carrying bikes and gear)
Glassworks front fenders
Hopefully get by with pulled stock bedsides
Custom front bumper and skidplate
Mickey Thompson classic locks / 35" tires
There's likely more I have forgotten but I'm sure you get the idea.
The truck is my DD and I currently have no way to do much work myself so it will be getting done at a local shop in stages. Front kit is getting ordered tomorrow and will be installed sometime around Christmas to start things off. Still hoping it will work out alright with stock wheels and tires clearance-wise until the rear suspension gets done at a later stage followed by new wheels and tires and gearing at another stage. Anyone with any input or comments on this would be great.
Guess thats' about it. Just want to thank you all for everything I have been able to learn from these forums up to this point and I look forward to learning much more. Maybe I'll even be able to help someone else out one day!
