Nine months ago, Polaris announced a relationship with Robby Gordon and today we’re proud to introduce the first Robby Gordon edition, the all-new RANGER RZR 4. Before today, Sport Side-by-Side enthusiasts looking to carry multiple passengers had no option; that is no longer the case with the announcement of the industry’s first four-seat Sport Side-by-Side.

“Polaris saw a market for a multi-passenger Sport vehicle at a significantly lower price than an expensive Sand Car or Rail,” said Eric Nault, product manager for RANGER RZR 4. “The RANGER RZR 4 fills that need for a Sport Side-by-Side experience for multiple passengers.”

The RANGER RZR 4 has all the performance and attributes of the RANGER RZR family and the ability to carry four people. With a powerful 800cc High Output Twin EFI engine, the RANGER RZR 4 has a class-leading power-to-weight ratio and strong acceleration. Its 60-inch/152.4cm width coupled with RANGER RZR’s patented design that places the engine behind the back seat for the lowest center of gravity, makes the RANGER RZR 4 more agile than most competitive two-seat Side-by-Sides. At 1,255 lbs/569.3 kg., it’s also lighter than many two-passenger vehicles.

For optimal, agile handling on any terrain, RANGER RZR 4 features long travel suspension with 12 in/30.5 cm of suspension travel and ground clearance. The unit’s premium suspension includes new Fox Podium X 2.0 Piggyback Reservoir Shocks plus Chrome Moly front upper A-Arms for precision and strength. The rear anti-sway bar and dual rate springs keeps the chassis flat through corners and the rolled independent rear suspension (IRS) provides a smooth ride through all terrain. To tackle tough terrain, RANGER RZR 4’s suspension is coupled with Polaris’ true all-wheel drive (AWD) system that automatically engages when the rider needs more forward traction and reverts back to 2WD automatically when AWD is no longer needed.

In creating the first four-passenger Sport Side-by-Side, Polaris paid close attention to ergonomics. For the driver, RANGER RZR 4 has class-leading tilt steering offering 10 in/25.4 cm of range and a heel pocket for unmatched throttle response and control. The front passenger will enjoy an industry-exclusive adjustable front passenger handrail, while the rear passengers an ample amount of head-room and an exclusive rear passenger handrail. Similar to the front passengers, rear passengers also have a 12-volt plug in and two cup holders. All four bucket seats are interchangeable and offer 4 in/10.2 cm of front-to-rear adjustability making it easy to switch drivers. For safety, RANGER RZR 4 has four side protective nets.

The RANGER RZR 4 also features graphics from the Robby Gordon’s TORC truck he raced at Crandon, Wisconsin, as well as, No. 7 NSCS Toyota Camry he raced during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Labor Day Classic 500. The Black, Blue and White theme sports the Robby Gordon Off-Road logo on the front side panels with race-inspired graphics, cut-and-sew seats and Maxxis Big Horn tires with Black Bruiser Rims making the vehicle the sharpest-looking Side-by-Side on the market.

“At Robby Gordon Off-Road, we build the highest performance, most elite off-road vehicles in the world. I hope Polaris customers like the new RANGER RZR 4 Robby Gordon Edition as much as we do,” said Robby Gordon.

The RANGER RZR 4 will be available at Polaris dealerships in January, with a MSRP of $14,999 (US) and $17,999 (CAN). A full line of PURE Polaris accessories, including roofs, cabs, bumpers, brushguards, windshields and Lock & Ride products also will be available, including many of the existing RANGER RZR and RZR S accessories that fit the RANGER RZR 4.

Here you go. They are actually quite different. The Monster one had virtually no leg room with full sized person in the front seats. The production RZR 4 can fit four adults. The rear seats don't have as much leg room as the fronts, but it is still pretty comfortable. The problem with sitting in the back is that the thing goes through the rough so well, that driver typically scares the doo doo out of those in back.

Yes it is a RZR 4. The RZR cage, suspension, etc is by Holz Racing Products. Shocks and wheels are Walker Evans. Tires = Maxxis Big horns. Exhaust = Muzzy. Seats & belts = Mastercraft. Graphics = Utendorfer graphic design. Engine = Kroyer.

Podium Prep and Bajaxp....your RZR-4's look absolutely amazing. I almost feel like I shouldn't post mine because it is pretty "stock" compared to your rides. Either way here is another one for you guys to check out. We have put about 100 miles on ours out in Plaster City and it is a great machine. It is considered our "pre-runner" and I am very happy with it's performance.

Mods include.......

-Revolution Racing Shocks (2.5" 4-Stage Externally Adjustable Bypass Shocks)
-Racer X Race Radio and 4-Person Intercom System with Headsets
-Crow 3" 5-Point Harnesses
-1.25" Wheel Spacers
-Quick-Disconnect Full Windshield
-Polaris Front Bumper
-Polaris Poly Roof
-Polaris Under Dash Passenger Bag

What are you talking about Elite10car...your RZR 4 is very trick. I really like the radio set up. I know the Callaway Motorsports (class 12 racers) guys pre-ran San Felipe in a box stock RZR 4 and were blown away by it. How do your new shocks work compared to the stock 2" Foxes? Do you get a lot of dust swirl with that full windshield? Robbi at Mastercraft told me that he has some seats that bolt right into a stock RZR 4.

The stock shocks worked pretty good and I was impressed out of the box. Althougth I am biased, the Revolutions were a huge improvement. The biggest difference is that the ride is much better (at all speeds) and it is very hard to bottom out the car with the Revolutions. You also have a ton of adjustment (4 bypass zones) The other big difference is that I was able to get the stock shocks to fade and the Revolutions do not fade at all.

I do get dust swirl with the windshield and I haven't really decided if the pros out-weigh the cons. In the silty areas of the desert, it gets pretty bad. This is why I opted for a quick disconnect windshield and I might just leave it off next time.

I look forward to seeing the progress on all of the RZR-4's posted here. It is pretty funny how excited I am just to install my new rear-view mirror. This RZR-4 is worth every dollar that I spent. Thanks for the compliments bajaxp

I am curious about the power of the same engine used in the lighter 2 seater. It would seem a larger motor would be required to handel 4 people.

June 29th, 2010, 11:24
The 4 seat Robby RZR 4 has the same engine that a RZR S has. Which is an 800 HO with just north of 50 hp. The RZR 4 weighs a couple hundred pounds more than a RZR S and if you a couple members of 'the big belly crew' in the back you can feel it. But the bottom line is that it is a ton of fun with one, two, three or four people in it. I saw 63 mph at El Mirage in a stock RZR 4 with three people in it, plus had a ton of fun at Glamis in early May with two people, in a different stock RZR 4. If you want more power, give Holz/Kroyer a call. Their stage III kit is awesome.
