Are Arizona legal UTV's legal for on road use in California?

This has been discussed before and I believe the consensus was NO... although there is a federal law that states something to the effect that if one state registers the vehicle then all the other states have to honor it but we all know Cali makes shtuff up as they feel like it..I don't think I would risk the impound to try although Ive been considering doing this for vegas(nv)....coupla leo's Ive talked to here locally basically said "does it have plates, reg. and ins.?... then your good."

I see one drive around mission viejo with az plates all the time. I asked and he said hes had no problems with the law. He sticks out like a sore thumb at the red lights though.

more than a consensus, on other forums, the chp has replied and it is a no for a utv on the california roads. if all the correct stuff is on it, you may get away with a warning. including DOT tires, wiper, windsheild, signals, horn, blah, blah. etc..

It'd be kinda fun to see a Crown Vic chase a LT UTV across the Mohave.

Ive also wondered about taking a AZ licensed UTV on trails that are for "street legal vehicals only" in places like fish creek, and east of plater city where its posted. Can a BLM or Park Ranger impound for it not complying with California street laws?
