A true early Baja Racing and General Baja Legend passed away today at the age of 75. Jimmy Smith was a friend and inspiration to many and will remain in our hearts and minds forever.
Among Jimmy's triumphs was racing in the 1967 Baja 1000 where he finished second overall as a co-driver in one of the early Meyers Manx cars. The story of how they lost the overall became the basis for an Eveready battery commercial.

After a short bought with cancer, Jimmy passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends.
