Well it started snowing in Arrowhead around 7:pm on Monday evening. This storm appears to have LOTS of moisture and if the current snowfall keeps up the 5000' level will see at least a foot of thick, wet, gloppy snow. Snow Valley and Big Bear should see 16-24 inches of snow and although it's not going to be great Utah like powder it'll be a heckuva lot better than what they've been blowing lately. Tuesday and Wednesday might be the second and third best days of local riding we'll see all year.

Okay. I've already spent TWO hours behind the wheel of that car tonight. I've tracked up every street I could think of. Every parking lot has been hit. The plow is sick of me and the CHP couldn't catch me. I parked the car for awhile and will head out in a few to do some plowing. I keep trying to come up with another excuse to head out.... I've got plenty of light - PIAA 520 clear driving lights up front with some upgraded bulbs - more light than I need http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/smile.gif HID in the snow gets weird because of the color temp of the light - almost too blue/white. I need that Jackie Chan night vision stuff from Cannonball Run for the next encounter with you know who.

If I could do video AND drive at the same time I'd post some nice AWD drifting action. I asked the wife and she said the last thing she wants to do tonight is sit outside and film me get sideways in HER car.

Ok. Right now there's about 6-8" inches of snow and it has slowed down. I got the plowing done for the night and snapped one more pic.

Thats what is nice about working for the fire department up here in Snowmass. We know all the cops and we go out with them and show them how its done! I've even traded vehicles with one of them, they were out there in my truck and I was in the cop car. (Ford Explorer, but cop car none the less)

Most of the cops up here are pretty nice... but the majority don't live up here full-time. Here's an early morning shot:

Nice pic Jeff ... that's purdy.

Ford Explorers are pretty fun to drift in the snow. I've taken my new '03 out quite a few times this year and this morning was a blast on the way to work. Maybe it's the independent rear suspension, but it's way more controllable than my '99 was. http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, snow is cool when you live in the high desert. Saw about 3-4 roll overs on the way to work around 8AM.

A little bird told me that Big Bear got about a foot of quality snow. It ain't super fluffly but it ain't Sierra cement either. Today / Tomorrow should make for some excellent riding.I'll hit Valley tomorrow for $10.00 buck Wednesday. Anyone going to Summit / Bear this weekend?

We got quite a bit of snow over here too, it was amazing watching people drive in the snowy/icy roads. People were having all sorts of trouble, numerous wrecks all over the place. I saw probably 4 wrecks in 5 miles on my way to school this morning, it was also funny watching people when i throw my truck out into a slide on purpose. They kept thinking i was going to spin out and they were going to crash into me. http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I'll post some pictures up later.

Im planning on going up the Summit tommorrow after class in the morning. Looks like the snow is going to be awesome. http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I rode at Bear Mountain last weekend and the snow was great for blown snow and it being Big Bear. If my priorities were not straight and I liked snowboarding better than racing, I would definitely being doing that instead of racing Parker. I guess my priorities are ok, but snowboarding sounds like it would be fun tomorrow and the rest of the week.
