This morning while watching comedy central around 10:45 I see some kids sitting in lawn chairs on dunes, all of the sudden it looks like Husemans fabtech truck and a couple of buggies come flying over a dune and up the wall of another then the kids stand up and get all stoked. It was cool but way too fast. I want to see it again..

I have seen it twice now. I think the truck jumps over a buggie or at least it looks like he does. Cool commercial though. If we see more commercials like this, who knows maybe we will see a Nissan Titan TT sometime.

I was going to say something about the commercial, but I thought it was an old one and had already been covered. The commercial starts off w/ the dad dragging his kids out to the car and then way out in the dunes. It looks like they were ready for the beach or something and when they get there (the dunes) they get out and seem very bored until they look up and 2 trucks and a buggy come flying over the dunes - then they go nuts and love it.

that commercial is pretty cool , but my fav is the one with the two dudes in the truck rolling thru the drive thru with the dirt bikes and all they can seem to spit out is dirt bike sound effects .... braapppppp !!!

Regarding Nissan and racing. They do not have the budget right now to support an off-road race team. If the Nissan marketing team gets their way they might be able to sneak in a little money for 2005. From what I know to be fact (not a rumor), there might be a new Titan racing as early as the end of this year. I know of at least one that is going to be started in the next few weeks but it'll most likely end up running BITD and would be more for promotion of the vehicle than anything else. It would not run every event but would be used to promote the brands entry into fullsize trucks. All of the big manufacturers know by now that spending a gazillion bucks on a race truck isn't guaranteed to return a single penny. The race on Sunday sell on Monday motto might work for NASCAR but it doesn't work so hot for a sport that gets as little publicity as dez racing. The trucks problem right now in building a whiz bang Titan is the motor - suspension is one thing but HP is another. Nissan offers a great little motor stock but there isn't a whole lot right now that will double its output to make it competitive in TT. Custom motor work on an untested block might end being a money down the drain effort in futility. Even if the block holds together you are going to spend a ton in R&D. Plus motor builders are always trying to shy away from "Jap" motors for one reason or another.

Also - the new 2005 Frontier is going to turn a few heads too. Word on the street is it ALMOST got the V8 as an option. I'm not super up to speed on Nissan but they are definitely trying to appeal to the off-road crowd and are starting to re-direct more $$$ "our" way.

Speaking of truck adds, there is a Toyota add that is at the beach and a pissed off girl friend pushes a Toyota off a cliff, it lands and there is not a scratch on it.. Funny, but not sure if it made air or just on the net. Not sure were it was posted but I saved it if someone can host.

Maybe the Titan in class 8?? Just to get it started and see what it draws. I know that thing comes with a big V8. I'm not sure on specs, but I think its a 5.7, alot bigger than the toyota.

I was watching speed last week and saw a program on the CORR events. They talked alot about how imports got into the sport. They also talked with someone at Nissan Motorsports "Nismo" saying that the Titan is racing...

I dont know to much about CORR, or short course, but just my $.02

CST has two Titans that they are working with that have been doing the SEMA , ORE Ect. show circut that have also appeared at various events along with the TC red Frontier.

The New Frontier is going to have a formidable 245HP in the newly introduced '05. Nissan is making great strides and really is doing a lot to set the bar with their new and upcoming models. It would be great to see a full size entry to compliment their three truck pro-lite team. If you look at that commercial it looks like there is a black, silver and red CORR Frontier in there as well.

It's great to see them parlay their title sponsorship in the CORR series into some racing exposure to the general public in that commercial.

I was at anaheim 1 and 3 and in the pits they had a total choas Nissan and a CST Titan. The titan had a bypass and a coilover. I'll post some pics

Why not race them in the stock full like the f-150s and such. That would be an easy way to get them noticed and not have to worry about the motor that much.

Did anyone look at the posistion of the shocks on the rear of the CST Titatn? It looked like a tight fit, it seemed that if the truck went anymore tha
n 4 inches into compression the tire would be ripping off bypass valves. And with some articualtion the tire may be agressivaly rubbing the shock body.

I AGREE BRING ONE OUT FOR BITD STOCK FULL AGAINST GREG FOUTZ'S F250, HE NEEDS SOME COMPETITION. IT WOULD BE A BETTER TEST THEN THE SISSY TEST THE MAGAZINES PUT THEM TO. THEY HAVE LIKE 300+ HP AND ARE PRETTY LIGHT. WOULD BE COOL TO SEE THE RESULTS. IF ANYBODY HAS ONE TO DONATE ILL GIVE UP STOCK MINI AND ILL BUILD IT AND RACE STOCK FULL? ANYBODY?

Actually, I know a couple of magazine guys and they beat the ever living crap out of those trucks. Most of those trucks go to the crusher after the mag tests. The F150 that Off-road did for SEMA got endo'ed out at pismo and caved in the whole front end. All the good parts were removed and the truck was sent back to ford to be crushed. Ah the life of a mag editor.......

im sure some of them do get tested pretty rough. i watch tv shows like road test mag or car and driver and from wait they show they are pretty easy on them. we have pre ran a few races with rental vehicles and believe me they get therrow beatings. wish we had some video. if it looked any thing like it felt inside the trucks it would make for some intresting test video. an offroad magazine testing job would be cool. were do i sign up?

actually slr i heard some one was already building one to run stock full. some one would have to match the ford $$ for me to switch to nissan or any other manufacturer for that matter. i wish there was more support from other manufacturers it would bring different brands to the classes.

I work at Nissan guys... It is a real truck. I am a chevy and sometimes a Ford guy, but I can definately say the base model Titan is cheaper, and t has a 5.6 with an auto trans.... What can Ford and Chevy do to compete? They will have to do more than just rely on their names over the next couple of years... Toyota is going to have to step it up too. The Titan is beigger, faster, more powerful, more roomy inside, more payload, more towing ability, and more torque. It is the real deal. Id love to see somebody take on the challenge for BITD!!!

What kind of axle are they using? Something similar to the solenoid operated locker on the TRD Taco's or a posi unit? Does NISMO offer an upgraded diff or lower ring and pinions for 37" tires?

The Axle is a Nissan Dana 44 type rear axle, Tow Axle Ratio is 3.36. The OffRoad package will have a E-locker that will be similar to the TRD unit (1-3 months out). Nissan went to the Dana for the ease of aftermarker options...

ya i have to swallow my ford pride and give nissan kudo,s on the titan. i havent driven one yet but i have heard good things. as far as bitd stock full goes that might be a different story as the motor and street testing means nothing. its all about heavy duty drive train to hold up in stock full. i dont know muck about nissan suspensions,diffs,transmissions etc. at any rate the commercial is way cool!!

im sure foutz will be ready to eat the Nissan and the F150 alive....Hard to keep up with a nearly bulletproof beam front end and a pretty healthy v10. Dont get me wrong, a-arms are better in my opininon...but as far as stock components go...f250 will alway be tougher and have more wheel travel with the beam front end than the nissan and f150.
But it would be cool if there were a bunch more trucks out there, so bring em on.

yah i agree. its pretty hard to beat an f250 for stock strength and reliability. greg pretty much has that truck dialed in. re; nissan rearend dana 44 components. smart so people wont have to wait for the a/m to produce gears,lockers etc.

i finally saw the nissan commercial. the trucks that are in it are rick husemens fabtech ranger and either john schmitt, or joe wutkes corr pro lite nissan frontier. then there was some old school clas 1 buggy with beams that was all black. pretty cool commercial just to fast and to many different shots. check out OLN it is on there all the time

Remember that chevy commercial many years ago with all the trucks at the dunes... Raglands Chevy TT or class 8.. and the stadium truck... and some others .... it was sweeet.

And then there were the Ford commercials with all the Rough Riders in them .... awesome .. man I wish someone had the resources to find all those commercials and post them somewhere.

I am sure we will have some "growing pains" but after they are worked out, I am confident that we wont be in Foutz' mirrors for long............he will be in ours.
