Can you guys tell me what kinda gas mileage your getting in your stock Rangers and what year and motor you have?
Im looking at getting one to drive to and from work and Im debating on going with the 4 banger (older 2.3 or newer 2.5 - am I correct?) or the 4.0 v6 - (the gas I put into my f-150 each week is ridiculous... ) also would anyone recommend the 4 cyl xtra cab (this is just for a daily driver and occasional trips to Home Depot, it doesnt need to have balls and I will not be hacking this truck up in the future for a prerunner.)
Thanks

IVE HAD THEM ALL AND I WOULD GET AT LEAST A 3.0 V6. I GOT 20MPG WITH MY 4.0 V6. THE RESALE VALUE IS MUCH HIGHER ON V6 MODELS. AND IF YOU DICIDE TO PRERUN IT OUT YOU WILL BE SORRY WITH THE 4CYLINDER. GOOD LUCK

I got 14-16 in my 4 liter...3.0 is pretty much useless so if you go V6 go 4.0. If you are using it solely to get from a to b...get the 4 banger, 5spd and if it feels weak...slap some gears in it!

I'm trying to remeber what I was getting back when I had the 4 banger in there, or when I even had a running truck for that matter http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I seem to think it was 22-24 on the freeway. That's an 89 ex-cab 2.3 w/ a 5 spd, 32's and 4.56 in the rear.

In both my rangers 92 & 97 both stick w/ 4.0. Always got 15-18 and most driving was freeway (40 min. to work)Both had 33's and 4.56's. The 97 got slightly higher (1 or 2 mpg) when it was stock for about a year and a half.

YES I AGREE THE 20MPG I STATED WAS WHEN MINE WAS STOCK 94 4.0 5SPD 4X4 WITH STOCK TIRES. IT DROPPED TO ABOUT 18 WITH 33" TIRES AND 4.10 GEARS. I HAD A 4CYLINDER RANGER TOO AND IT DID A LITTLE BETTER THEN THAT IN MPG. BUT IT WAS GUTLESS. GOODLUCK WITH YOUR PURCHASE!!

1994 4x4 with a stock 4.0, transwerks R&D built 4-speed auto, 33's, and stock rear end equals 14 mpg. 10 mpg if I'm towing anything.
