How do you guys feel about getting fuel injectors cleaned by a shop? I have heard mixed opinions about it. My mechanic tells me to spend my money elsewhere. It has never been done and my motor has 170,000 on it. I do run fuel injector cleaner from time to time in it. Others have said after they had it done they noticed a huge difference. Any other opinions out there? Brian

I would definitely recommend having the injectors flushed if it's never been done. I can assure you there will be a noticable diffference. Over time you get a lot of build up on and inside of injectors that affects the spray pattern and can make them stick. Just as important, what brand gas do you use? Chevron's is the cleanest & I've seen first hand that vehicles that use Chevron fuel have less fuel system problems.

Thanks for the advice. I run Quick Trip gasoline which is the better gas out here in Kansas. There are not as many choices for gas compared to California. More of a monopoly over here. Brian.

you can get new injectors from jegs or summit for only a little more than someone is going to charge you to clean them. The shop I called out here wanted $20 an injector and they said that they dont always get them clean enough. $160 for 8 of them, I got brand new ones from jegs for $220. Thats what I suggest.
