I am thinking about buying a new (used ) explorer. Does anyone own one? Looking to get some feedback on how well they are liked.

Not a 02-04 but my wife had a 97 5.0 awd supercharged, it was lots of fun we had no problems for the 70K we owned it.

We just bought my wife a 03 about 4 months ago and she loves it!! I even like driving it, and I hate to drive anything but a truck..........

On a side note, she unfortunately just rear-ended somebody and did quite allot of damage to it. But her, her sister, and her mom who were all with her are just fine. Nobody hurt...........the truck protected them very well and did its job. That is what insurance is for..............

I would definitely recomend one.

I've had '99 and '00 Explorers, but we just got an '03 and it is by far the best. Corners awesome with the IRS and is very smooth. No problems in the snow, and even made it up on top of freeloader hill at Laughlin no problem. ( laughed at the stuck suburban with 35's as we went by. ) I must say, the 4.0L SOHC is an awesome engine. I've ridden in the v8 as well, and they have plenty of power.

Shrek, I'm glad everyone was all right. I do feel safe with my family in the explorer and that's why I may never buy a smaller car.
(ps... what happened to the truck, totalled, or fixed.... I need to buy an SOHC for my Ranger.)

Not totalled............but almost 5K of damage.

As far as safety goes, I will probably never buy anything other than a ford.
