While attending the NHRA Winternationals this past weekend, I picked up a souvenir issue of NHRA's National DRAGSTER magazine. MUCH to my surpise, there was a full page, full color ad for Skoal Smokeless Tabacco, featuring an image of what is clearly John Becker's ProTruck. All of the sponsor logos have been touched out or blurred, but it's still clear who it is.
Keep in mind, this issue alone was circulated to everyone of the 85.000 paid NHRA Members, as well as being offered as a complimentary souvenir issue to everyone who attends this event. Which, under normal circumstances (no rain), the 4 day attendance would be nearly 120,000 spectators. That's not even counting if the ad runs in every souvenir issue this season.
Nice exposure of a professional off-road racing image to the "straight-liners" as well as the casual enthusiast.
Did Mr. Becker know anything about this?
