Looking for some ideas for some hard core motor mounts for a Toyota 22r.. We have done the strap, chain, cross bolted thing, tried aftermarket mounts - they all broke. And this time the mount ripped off the frame costing us a finish.
So how do TT, 8's, 1's etc with big HP keep the motor restrained? Pics or links would be greatly appreciated.

Motor plates! Front and rear!
On a toy you should be able to make some dependible ones out of the normal poly bushings, similar to what autofab does for the fords.

You need solid mounts---no rubber.
But if it ripped off the frame, then the frame must have been weak or the mount not welded correctly to it.

I made my own mounts for my old 7 truck by using the stock mounts and putting in a set of bushings in there, similar to the Autofab ones.
And Total Chaos sells mounts now. www.chaosfab.com (http://www.chaosfab.com)

the kit also comes with a tranny mount.

Here is a picture of what we came up with after tearing the factory mount off of our frame last season . We also decided to put a 3.4 in so the mounts needed to be a little tougher from the start . These never had a problem again . They went from the frame , all the way down to the lower crossmember . Hope that helps .

I would build something like dan pictured, they look super strong, although The 1/4" plate used was a little overkill(Better overbuilt than under). Definitely use a bushing. You don't loose anything and it'll help isolate vibrations that could end up cracking the mount, welds or worse, the bosses in the block where the mount bolts up.
