Go here. (http://www.whiplashracing.com/main.html) That's Whiplash Racing. Click on the Snowflake Race. Snowflake is south of Holbrook, so it's going to be about a good 6 hour drive for you, but that is the closest that I know of. I saw an ad in Dusty Times for a group out of CO, but no one that I know knows anything about them, they were listed out of the Denver area IIRC.

Outside of that, I think we're bumming though. There's plenty of good land available in our area, but the problem I guess is there is no one that can take the thought any further.

Tricky, Josh and Joe are going to do the Whiplash Snowflake race later this year. Why don't you get hold of one of them and come along.

We go out to the area neat the Route 66 Casino and test our cars and up in Diablo Canyon here in the Santa Fe area

I have often wondered why New Mexico doesnt host desert races. Anybody have any info? BLM issues etc.....

Funny that you bring this up....so I'm gonna let the cat out the hat. Jay of Whiplash, along with a couple of racers took a trip out to Roswell NM on 4th ofJuly weekend to met with the city leaders. The city leaders really wants a race in there town...the neogoations are still on going but the preliminary report is that the city is gonna get BLM approval, maybe provide rooms for all the racers and there will be some big contingency/block party downtown Roswell. The racers that went, scouted out possiable race courses and are excited with what they found. The race date is still up in the air but there looking at summer of 2005. I'll post more info as I get it.

There is also a series that races in Mexico that I thought ran just below New Mexico and Texas. If I remember correctly the orginizer races class 1 and usually goes to the Snowflake race, can't think of his name! http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Shane...Your talking about Ceasar Fuentes...But I'm not sure what level of involvement he has with that series. Its a new series that runs races in Juarez MX. A couple of Whiplash guys from Tucson have raced...RJ Newton, Ron Dalke. They have told me that there is usually 15-20 cars...mostly older cars. But there are a couple of nice cars...Ceasar's Class , couple of nice 5 cars and couple of nice 10 cars. I've been thinking about trying them out...since there only a 3-4 drive. Also the promotor has been paying for the rooms for out of state racers.

What's up Mike! You are right it is Ceasar Fuentes I was thinking of, he was always handing out fliers at the Whiplash races so I thought he was the promoter. Where is Juarez MX? Scott Baxter who used to have a 5 unlimited out of Albq. NM used to go down to those races and always had fun. If I remember right Ceasar had a couple cars and raced in what ever class was biggest at each event. http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Juarez MX is on the other side of the border from El Paso TX. The last I heard about Scott was he sold the 5 car and was racing the Pony Express 10 car.

Hey Drew I saw your post about the BITD 780 mile point-to-point Albuquerque to Mexico in Summer 2006. It will be interesting to see how many racers make it over there.

Is Casey actually including it into his racing schedule for 2006 or is he just going to help run the event? Seems like it would too hard for alot of his racers to make it all the way over there, if it is maybe it will be an optional race in the series?

Plus I thought his '06 schedule is already filled up? I am REALLY hoping the Havasu race goes down (and not replaced by this one).

That would be great if it happened. New Mexico is only a day's drive for me here in Texas.

Thanks for the update, amigo. Unfortunately, I already have a prior commitment that weekend. By the way, do you know if they have any races in San Luis Potosi or near Monterrey? My girlfriend's family has a ranch in Matehuala, and we go there all the time.
