So, a while ago I put 63" Chevy springs on my 2000 Tacoma. My problem is that the springs compress forward instead of rearward. This is because the new springs front mount had to be moved forward, which lowered it and the shackle length didn't change very much. I know of two ways to fix this problem, frenching the front hanger (will probably be a real PITA) or lengthening the shackle in the rear (considerably easier). The problem with lengthening the shackle in the rear would be a stinkbug look to my truck with ass end high. Are there any significant problems with the spring compressing forward? Also, are there any other ways to fix this that I'm not thinking of? I included a crappy MS Paint pic.

I read on the 500 course notes that Baja Pits was going to be up there giving gas to the riders going over the summit. Is that true? If so what dates so we can plan to take advantage of this, as driving the extra 2 hours around 3 and up 5 to get to the pit is a major PITA.

I can't seem to find any more info on this would be appreciated!

I know this is RDC and the off-road racing god site and people will hate me. But, Off-road needs to become a little more fan friendly.

I am a spectator. I don’t work in off-road, I don’t wrench for someone. I work for my money and spend my vacation/money traveling to races(Off-road, NASCAR, BITD, INDY, SCORE,WOO, WRC hoping someday)


I am tired of going to LOORSS races and fighting families/pit crews for seats. Know what the general admission seats should be open to fans first. Not the “posses”/pit crew that come in on Friday and tape/blank off the top rows. It’s BS that fans have to fight with pit crews “posses” for seats come race time. Make the people wearing wristbands sit somewhere else.

Ok, let talk about desert racing. I went to the Mint 400 pit crew challenge on Freemont street this year. I didn’t see ** ¡Ay, caramba!**** ¡Ay, caramba!**** ¡Ay, caramba!**** ¡Ay, caramba!** because those stupid pit crews/”posses” were blocking my view. I was behind the railing and they were all in front of the railing blocking my view. Only the trucks and people changing tires should have been on the other side of those rails, so fans/spectators could see what was happening.

Hate me, but I am tired of fighting the “posses” to get access to see off-road races. In NASCAR I never have to fight Jimmie Johnsons, Tony Stewart, crew to see what is happening. I might not get garage access in NASCAR but I don’t have to fight the “posses” to see from the stands.


I would like to hear other peoples input on this? Maybe I am wrong...

Go figure... I'm definitely interested in desert racing but now have a Tacoma that's set up as a mild crawling rig (armored and locked with as little lift as possible) as well as a DD to an extent. I suppose I originally joined this site because I was doing a 63" Chevy spring swap on the old girl but I got it done without the gurus of this site's help. But now I'm back for more questions, probably in the Desert Racing section. From the posts I have read, I can already tell that this site and its members will be extremely helpful to my undereducated self... Thanks for the help (and probably some flaming) that I'll receive.

I'm not sure if its real or a fake but I'm sure looks like real and in the way the sport is going..

Well guys this is not a good news for us the amateur riders.

I do admit that we should be more safe and I do like the iniciative that RN has taken to ensure that the amateur riders are safe. But I won't call all of us "incapable" , but I do agree we have a few in our class.

And what this migth cause is 2 things:
1- the incompent riders, pay more and race in the pro class and still be as slow as they are..
2- just quit racing Score and go to other leagues.. (and we are the mayority in the handlebar classes.)


And the reason many of us don't race pro is not because we don't have the passion or love for the sport, or the lack of equipment(at least in my case, I got a sick atv but defenetly not the rider for Pro class) is that we have other things in life and can't dedicate time to practice as much as we want or need to move up in a class and be COMPETITIVE...

In my 2 cents. If he's so concerned about our safety and the riders want to do the entire course. Just start the spt guys all the back after the cars..


I would like to know if this would affect everybody out side class 21 22 24 25? I'm not sure if other classes like 30,40 are also pro..

At this race only womens at driver seat was allowed. Copilot can be male as a option.

At Ridgecrest I saw that they were soliciting drivers to submit their incar footage, looks like they're doing the same for the 500. It didn't mention it in the B500 bulletin but I know they said if possible to film in 720p. I don't think many people knew about it but this is a good chance for some exposure for teams that want it.

BTW, I use a cable from PCI to connect both the video camera and the iritrack IRC box to the intercom. If you're unsure how to hook up the audio I'd bet they can help you out.

My name is Paul, I own a 2000 Chevy C6500 with a CAT 3126. My odometer is not working and the radio used to go in and out but now it doesnt come on at all. I don't know if it's a fuse or a more complicated fix. Any help would be appreciated.
