Anything Engines, Exhaust, Cooling, Fuel
so my stock fuel pump went out on my pre-runner. i figure rather then wasting the money to replace it id start shopping for a cell. My wallet is crying already just from looking at fuel safes. Is the cost really justified over a jaz or summit brand? i'm not racing or anything. Just my toy. thanks in advance.
I need some adcive, I have 2 large CBR oil coolers with fans on the back of my prerunner, I am wondering if I should use both of them for the trans, and a frame mount engine cooler with no fan. Or split them and use one for the trans and one for the engine? I'm running a 4l80e and a lq9(iron block 6.0) with a computer tune aprox 440hp. Help would be great, thanks!!
i have a 383 stroker(350 with 400 crank) in my truck and will probably be putting it in my 1400 full size chevy. should i stick with this or get a bbc. whats the best you can do for spending very little on a bbc motor?
Bad or good idea?

I've got an older Fuel Safe fuel cell from my older single seat car. It's a split tunnel cell with a diagonal tunnel so that the shifter can come from around the side of the seat and backtowards the center of the car to the tranny. I'm looking to buy a brand new fuel cell for the new car I'm having built. I'm not too interested in going custom as I'm short, seriously, short on time and need to...
Anybody building a class 7200 with the new Mustang motor? I know its not a Busch motor but its an alternative.
2nd trip out and motor is back firing during deceleration any ideas or possible solutions? 2nd problem the trans won't shift out of 1st gear it's got park reverse neutral and drive but drive is only on gear and revved out at 30/40 mph
Going to install a big canister filter in my Ford and I can go with either a UMP or an Advanced Air Cleaner System from Howe. They look about the same so I thought I would see if anyone as any thoughts on the two brands. Alex
Alright looking for some help i need to mount all my accessories for the motor up high i know that Ryan Arciero did it on his prerunner awhile back any help would be appreciated
after granading my sbc on the 5th trip out in my truggy i decided to upgrade to an ls1. i found a new gmpp asa dry sumped ls1. these engines are used in nascars asa late model series. i got a killer deal but have no experience with fuel injection or dry sumps, so any advice would be much appreciated. guess my main question is this dry sump setup gonna be sufficent in my truggy at speed...
Any of you tt gurus whats this little can sitting right above the trans on passenger side for? seems to be inline with the cooling lines going to the radiators? just a manifold to attach other lines to the cooling? Or maybe to catch air bubbles? http://www.geiserbros.com/www.geiserbros.com/Albums/Pages/Sourapas_TT.html#22...
I have an Ecotec 2.4 LE5 installed in my new build and need to order all of the parts to get it running. I am not a racer and the buggy will see the woods in Michigan, and trips to Colorado and Utah. I have looked at quite a few websites and sent quite a few emails, but could use some advise on who offers what. I am more than likely going to go with a new harness, mefi5 ecu , pedal, and...
im in the process of building a 1400 truck and am getting close to time to pick out exhaust and a torque converter but this is where i need help. For headers i have fenderwell headers with 1.75 primaries to a 3.5 collecter and am trying to decide between a 3" or 3.5" exhaust with a glass pack. I already have some 3" glass packs for it. heres everything i know about the motor. the pic is of a...
What is the correct fix for the weak head gaskets in the 3.0 v6? Is there one? Are you better off converting to the 3.4 and wrestling with the smog ref? Thanks.
My SBC started running rough at Parker prerun, so I pulled over. Once I stopped driving and all the noise from the suspension and whatnot died down, I could hear that the motor was making a nasty noise, even at idle. I shut it down and looked over everything including the torque converter thinking that maybe something external was loose or flopping around. When I started it back up it sounded...
I need some feedback if anyone has used this system, likes, dislikes. Im thinking about using this on a Jeep J10 project it will be going on an AMC 401. My problem is 3,500 bucks is hard to swallow when I can buy a good carb and be down the road. This isnt going to be a "pre-runner" but more of a resto/daily drivable truck. It will be very offroad capable 35s/deavers probably locked up in the...
Man I cant figure this out heads and head gaskets are all new so good there motor runs fine but when you start running at 3500 to 4000 rpm it starts climbling in temperature I havent let it get over 200 but am sure it will keep going. if I let it idle back down it cools back down to 180deg. radiator is a new Ron Davis 24 by 19 with a single 16" spal fan and shroud yesterday I even put...
I'm building rear engine 7200 truck. I want to have a front radiator, they will be about 14ft. away from eachother. Will a good aftermarket belt driven water pump work or do I have to have some sort of electric booster? Anything else I should worry about or consider with this set up? the motor is a chevy v-6 so there are lots of water pumps available. thanks!
Does anyone have any experience using the Holley off road truck avenger series oF carburetors? For the price I am kinda curious about getting the 670 cfm carb and if it doesn't do the trick then just take it to c&j and have them tweak it. It's for a mildly built 4.3l v6
Is there a standard or something i should think about when i try to figure out my accessory brackets? How much of the pulley needs to cntact the belt? The more the better id assume right? Im trying to not have to use idler pulleys if possible.
So ive been searching around not really sure what i want to run in my motor? Building a 5-1600 motor, and looking to see what you guys out there are running as far as cam and what ratio rockers. I know that building my own motor i wont be able to "keep up" with the professionally built motor, but i want to do it myself. I just like the idea of building the whole car myself. :)
Anyone know which exhaust headers should one buy when dropping a 350 into a 90 toyota regular cab. The stock ones don't even some close to fitting between the frame rails. I'm building my own engine mounts so have some play room. Thanks
alright so, we can rebuild a v8 and make plenty of power, we can do all of the work in-house with some help from a friend of ours who who's a machine shop... my question is: does anybody rebuild their own 1600 motor (besides the obvious big name motor builders)... do any "home grown" 1600 guys rebuild their own motors??... are you able to be competitive or have you ever heard of anybody...
have a 383 chevy in our ranger and seem to be on the edge of overheating, we run a aluminum radiator with a 3000 cfm puller fan without a shroud, does anybody have any input on the difference in performance on this set up if we ran a shroud? thanks in advance
I NEED a copy of this book.... Hot VW's "All About Performance VW Engines" - allegedly it covers a FAT Performance Type 4 build that I'd love to read. Anybody out there willing to sell one or hook me up with a few scans? Let me know! Thing is impossible to find.
I am by no means a motor guy. I have a 351 windsor that I am putting a 408 stroker kit in. I plan on racing my truck in the sportsman class to start but eventually move up to class 8 with experience. Which route should I go, dry sump or wet sump. What are the advantages of a dry sump? Thanks for the help in advance.
i am going to be swaping out my tired old 4.3l v6 for the 6.0L LQ4\m/ anyone have any suggestions on cam sizes, turbo sizes and any other comments anyone may have thank you
http://www.youtube.com/user/GadgetmanGlobal#p/u/13/MfDZi5hThUk 30-35 Hp gain .......cough, cough, BS!! If your gonna cheat, don't put it on the internet!!
Anybody have any comments on the bug type 1, 3 liter package that they make, pros, cons, and reliability as well as power steering options???? What did you use for brackets??? Or are you stuck using a pump that mounts on the end of the dry sump oil pump shaft???
