Hi,, As some of you know there is a front wheel drive project going on in Sweden right now. Just started to go official with this, so the pictures on the website is old. I have to post pictures from the beginning of the project there. I have tons of questions and i feel like the best deal would be to get in contact with someone on this forum that has knowledge about fabrication and what...
so im sure that this has been talked about before, I am wondering what ford frame would be best to start a new class 8 project. Know that c and d likes the early 80s ford frames but would like to know what others have found to be good. this truck will have I beams and linked in the rear of course. Any info would be great, also pictures would be way awesome.
I did a bunch of MIG welding today and I realized that it had been about 2 years since I had done any significant amount of welding (have to make sure that doesn't happen again) and I was struggling with the vertical welds. They weren't really spreading out like I would like them to. . .they looked too humped up with steep side. . .like little mountains instead of a gentle hill (I will post a pic...
Welding plays a huge part of fabricating so i think there should be a thread dedicated to it. I think there should be some simple guidelines that if we all follow it could be a pretty cool thread. The only Rule:eek: is PLEASE NO BASHING welds or welders or whos welding. Guidelines: #1 They dont have to be your welds just make sure its cool to post them. # 2 TIG (single pass or weave) MIG...

Couldn't pass up this deal on a nearly perfect 75 f250 I just bought . What do you guys think... potential mild prerunner , or should i cut it up and make it a 1400 or 8 truck?!!
I was just wondering if anyone has or knows were to find designes to back half a 04 silverado crew cab. im going to 4 link the back and put on trailing arms. any info would help.
hey guys i have an 04 tacoma im building up. did the full rear end about 4 months ago and getting ready to completely cage the cab to race spec. after that i will be saving to more then likely center-mount the front end. Now since the rear was caged but not the cab it caused the cab to crack pretty damn bad in the back. i think it will be much smarter and easier just to get a gutted cab from a...
Drew this up today for a simple link design first ones ive designed curious for weak points ect 1.25'' rod end on axle not shure what for frame thanks for looking
wondering which style mount would be better... a plated style mount or a machined mount w pockets... any pros n cons? any help would be appreciated... Thanks

hey all, first post. finally got a truck that i want to do the whole prerunner thing to. its a 99 gmc sierra sle ext cab 2wd 4.8 auto. looking to start building a sort of mid travel beginners and practice set up. my idea is to build these control arms i have been designing. control arms that will give me about 5-6 inches out and about 4 inches lift using stock spindles ball joints tie rods...
I'm trying to find somebody in the between Ventura and SF Valley that has a roll bender. I need a large radius bend on some 2 1/2" x .120 tubing. Anybody with a Baileigh R-M55 or similar would be perfect. If anybody has know or knows a shop in the area please let me know. Thanks, Mike

Hey everyone, we just finished our second episode of FullDroopTV about building a bedcage in a Ranger.
Hi, I'm building a 86 toyota to race sc in mini stock. Last night a friend was over checking out the truck. He grabbed a hold of the rear most tube on the truck and lifted up. sitting 90 degrees from the truck i see the rear of the truck flex. i ask him to do it again to make shore my mind isn't playing tricks on me and it was definitely moving. so we pull a tape and at the rear of the frame and...
ok so now that i have my front build figured out im on the fence between semi bed cage with deavers and res shocks running through the bed (which isnt BAD, still have SOME bed space.) OR!!!!! cantilever with deavers or possible linked setup. and retain almost all bed space depending on how much bump travel i need and if i need to notch... my question is, how do you setup the progressive...
Has anyone bought and used the miller Diversion 180? I have limited shop space so a syncrowave250 would make it even smaller. and a Dynasty is outta of my budget. Do they make a water cooled torch for it? and whats the price ready to rock and roll? Basically want some feedback on the machine before I invest in one.
I've got a Millermatic 211 that I've been using a bit more than normal that past three days and I noticed that the ground clamp has been getting pretty warm. . . . . .is that an indication of something that I need to be aware of? Or is it just because I'm using it for a much more extended time period than I have in the past? Also, I'm welding material a bit thicker than I have with this...
Im putting a bigger cell in my truck and for weight numbers Im needing to mount it behind the cab. Whats some ways you guys are making firewalls behind the cab so in the event of a rollover the fuel cant get thrown out on the driver. The way it is now there isnt a back to the cab, its completely open. Im putting in a CBR radiator behind the cab also, it will be where the back glass would normally...
I have a side job coming up that will require some slightly radiused 1.75"x.095 tubing. i was planing on paying someone to do the 2 radiused tubes but i was looking on line and saw the Harbor Freight tube roller for $170. im wondering if any one has used one of these that can give some feedback. Thanks, Bryan
I've never used a hammer bag before, but I got one from Eastwood and they don't come pre-filled. . .so I was wondering what I should fill it with. . . sand, steel shot??? What size shot or grit of sand? Thanks for the help!
Saw a thread that had a side conversation on a couple of floor jacks that had been modified to work better in the gravel/off-road instead of just on the nice smooth concrete floor. . . . . .how about you guys post up some pic's of your off-road modified floor jacks. Thanks. . .I'll post a pic of mine when I'm done with it.
I am trying to determine exactly what is legal for modifying the stock frame rails for max clearance and approach angle. Here is everything the bitd rulebook says about relieving the front: "CHASSIS Original wheelbase plus or minus 2 inches must be retained. Frame rails must remain stock shape, size, length, configuration, and material. No material may be removed from frame rails...
some say stainless rod is better, others say ER70S is best...so i decided to ask the pro´s... what do you guys think???
Looking for some input from those you with more experience than me concerning tube joints. . . First, does it make a difference how long the ears are on a fishmouthed tube joint? I could see it going either way with complete half-circle fishmouth having more welded surface area resulting in a stronger joint or more of a semi-circle fishmouth being stronger because the tubing wall doesn't...
I am curious as to what type of filler rod everyone is using to GTAW 4130? Lincoln recommends using ER80S-d2 for anything under .120", Jason Campbell(Camburg) is using "super missileweld"(supposedly), which from what i can tell is for welding dissimilar metals. The obvious choice would be a chromoly rod I would think! So what does everyone use???!
Ill be quick to the point... Im new to metal fab work (work on F-18s and F-35s, neither require metal fab other than the occasional aluminum bracket and a couple rivets) but its something I've always wanted to do. I plan on eventually building smaller sand rails, cages, bumpers, suspension parts ect. I've narrowed it down to Miller but I'm torn between the 180 and the 211. Will the 180 handle...
