Good to hear from you, I am just trying to think of a way to attract more people to the class. Of the people I have talked to that are interested in building a car the issue they have is having to spend $10,000 plus on a motor to be competitive. I look at the success JeepSpeed has had as well as the huge bandwagen in trophylite and I think some sort of reliable sealed engine is the key. I would love to see a field of 30 plus 12 cars, and I think changing the motor is the only way to do it.
I agree with you that VW engines in class 12 are expensive. But i dont think we need to change to something else. Of the 12,000 dollars you spent this year on the motor how much was a prep issue? The carb getting clogged at vegas to reno after changing the air cleaner and having the air cleaner come off or loose at the next race wasnt really a VW issue. I built a light weight 12 car for a reason to go fast , so having to add a radiator and a suburu or whatever it would cost to back half my car i could use that money to prep my existing motor. I know you came from jeepspeed with junkyard notors but look how much faster 12 cars are. i hope this helps you i would like to hear your feedback.
