BJ Baldwin leaves General Tire for 2"?

So BJ is leaving GT to go to Toyo for a 39" tire. Thats a pretty crazy move IMO just for a bigger tire. What do you guys think, is it worth it for 2"? Will he win more races now?

Fort Mill, SC - December 19, 2011. General Tire and Baldwin Motorsports will amicably part ways at the end of this year. Following extensive internal discussions, officials at General Tire determined that they need to focus on fulfilling the needs of the high consumer demand for General Tire products and are unable to accommodate the product request required by Baldwin Motorsports by the beginning of the 2012 season.

“We did not make this decision lightly,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing, General Tire. “At the end of the day, we made the decision to use our development resources & manufacturing facilities to meet the high consumer demand for our product right now. While we’re sorry to see BJ leave, we are thankful for what he has done for our brand and wish him all the best.”

I don't get it... Was he asking for a new tire? (i'm guessing a 39 0r 40 in one) or was it the quantity of product he wanted?

What's the track record for 39" tires? Pretty good... May just be that "extra" piece of the puzzle of "putting it all together", like a shock package, tranny/engine change, suspension geometry change, or co-driver change, etc???????

I heard he will be on 39.5 super swampers in 2012.

I doubt quantity was the problem with being GT's number 1 guy.

Nope. TO me it implies GT wants to take a large chunk of the budget and put it to what GT considers better use.
