Brent Parkhouse's class 12 car will be hitting the dirt this weekend with this new T1 engine package. I have the dyno sheets from our plenum engine and our new engine and the numbers are impressive, but we will see when we drive it.
This engine will be one of two cars that will be racing the baja 500 next weekend with the new engine option.

I'm with you Kev, I have actually heard crazy unrealistic HP numbers being thrown around too...135HP is not only what I heard from a reliable source, it is also in-line whith what I would expect from these motor setups. Also, HP and Torque equate to different, but related, performance characteristics. The new motor is throwing notable higher torque numbers much lower in the RPM range.

In reference to the plenum/high compression setups, I haven't been around super exotic normally aspirated motors since my STIHL sponsored alcohol-burning sprint-car circle-track days. Now those were some crazy powerplants turning unreal RPMS for sustained amounts of time. Of course, totally grenading motors was also common..LOL!! I like being able to pull up to the Shell station and fill up on hi-test unleaded!!

Kev, did you get your rear arm mount pivot repaired already?

Between you and Cheater, I have been tracking your progress closely. I really want to hear the driving impression out on the course with your peers driving to compare to. It is funny, when I go to test pre-race...sometimes, the car feels like it accellerates amazingly...then some how the competition walks the dog on you...LOL!! Nothing like competition to measure the real performance...

Re: 2012 Class-12 new Engine Option!!

We ran the Parkhouse car and the new "Option" is very good. I was very impressed with it as it had mass torq and pulls very hard. Top end is a little weaker than the plenum but cornering, washes, hills, etc are all better plus pulling up to the regular gas pump just before testing was something I have never done in all the years I have been racing and was way cool.
I was a little worried before I drove it but no worries now as the more I drove it the better I liked it.

Here is a short vid I made a couple of weeks ago, The motor I built in 2002, not long after Jim Moulton built this
buggy chassis, I just love this kinda stuff, Can drive right from my front gate here near Mojave/Cal City

It screams along pretty good, and has 1000s of miles on it, 2180 on pump gas

Should I assume a transmission gearing change was in order to make it run right?

Good luck to you and Brent this weekend.

Come on Jim...you figured out Facebook, you can lick this too...LOL!!! I saw you posted pics there! I did some more testing with our 2120cc motor this weekend and bent a bypass shaft...duh!! The motor was pulling great at least.

For anyone tracking this thread...the proof is in the pudding...so they say. Congratulations on Bent Parkhouse Jim Moulton and Team for their 1st in class 12 at baja 500 with the new motor option...motor built by FAT and running pump gas as I understand.
