    450whp Tatum 10 car?

Actually lighter than a ten car!

We're basing a new 1 car for the Antipodes on the latest, and absolutely stunning, Tatum 10 car. We're building it to Australian CAM specs to future proof it for NZ regs and to venture across the pond for some of the larger Ausi events.
As such some weight can be pared from the car in wall thickness, some tube diameter, bash plates and tyre diameter to produce what is planned to be a sub 1850lb car.

The car is to buck current trends, cut weight from wherever possible and find a small/light engine package capable of producing 450whp. As such a turbo rotary power plant was selected and a Redline Rotary package detuned to the required HP. It's mated to a Fortin sequential six speed with a very high first gear and a short throw of gears up to its geared theoretical top speed of 165mph. (actual will be around the 145mph mark).

The car is designed to play up to the weaknesses of my current 610whp V6 twin turbo Jimco. That of its abundant weight and mid engine configuration making it hard to maintain a competitive nature in low traction / technical courses which are prolific in New Zealand. It's excessive power only being able to be displayed on open courses.

The electronics package includes the vernerable Link G4 Xtreme mated to an AIM Evo4 dash/datalogger (suspension potentiometers and GPS mapping) and a Lowrance Baja 5m GPS.

Although the car isn't on the jig yet the intension was to give a full dialog of the process from concept to completion.
As such I'll update this thread whenever I've had updates from my Phoenix project manager.

Alan, you should cut the front end off that Millenium of yours and translate a new Tatum front. In fact I'd do the same to the middle and rear of that car!
By the way sorry for not sending a Jimco upright your way. Found out the Millenium uprights are very very different, it wouldn't have been any use to you.

    ADHD sufferer requires Millenium.

I've won the New Zealand overall championship this year with a single seat mid engined Jimco that we built up at the beginning of the season. However being as easily distracted as I am I want to have a crack at the Millenium and attempt to make the car perform as it should have.
As there is no longer a "wanted" section in the classifieds I have been forced to post here.
I wondered if anyone had any leads on a Millenium rolling chassis for sale. I state rolling as engine regulations are a little more open to FI here as such I intend to run a V6 twin turbo (as my Jimco does).
    Cheers, Daniel.

One of the advantages of running the Millenium in a New Zealand cross enduro/short course configuration is you are pretty much sitting on the main spring, the tender spring is very low rate to allow rebound travel but still allow the car to sit low. It means I can up the main rate so that it will take the shock of hitting most bumps and because it's short it shouldn't matter as much if it's slighly lowering the rate through wheel travel. I'm also not adverse to replacing the bash plates every season

    Re: 450whp Tatum 10 car?

That quote was 3.5 years ago before I'd even seen a Millenium in person. Racing technology doesn’t stand still.... and neither do I. Millenium has a low stance, and layout is very similar to my Cosworth Jimco only with a heavier and sexier body. Tatum is in a totally different league. Boxed arms, considerably better front geometry, wider cabin, later technology hubs, brakes, shocks, everything. It's everything I wanted in the Jimco 2000 minus all that additional weight. The rotary is a gamble based on reduction of weight and power. It's an amazing power package in a very low weight. Ultimately it's designed to play to the Jimco/Millenium weaknesses and destined to be considerably quicker in the likes of the Nelson, Canterbury, Taupo, Manukau races. It's also CAMS legal, which both the Millenium and Jimco aren't.

Have you ever picked up a rotary engine??????? They aint light. They weigh close to a LS engine and if you were looking at turboing the rotang then you mayswell put a cummins diesel in it!!!! And you wouldn't have the torque that a LS engine or a 4g63 engine produces. Your jimco doesnt look anything like a Millenium either. Milleniums look modern in the frame and body unlike your jimco which looks like a cardboard box with some paint splashed on it.

Perhaps you should have a second look at the Millenium. It's basic frame layout is very similar to the Jimco (other than the front shock laydown on which the Jimco is considerably better), and the rear cage. The Millenium mule was also supposedly a Jimco of my era. It's by no means a modern buggy in anything other than look.
Redline turbo rotary is on the scales at 275lbs (125kgs fully dressed including turbo, no fluids), so considerably lighter than any LS, cummings or 4g63. The only other real option was a B11 but I simply couldn't source two to run. I know I'll have to work the rotary hard, and that's what the sequential 6 speed is all about.
I'll fully admit that the Jimco looks like a cardboard box. I had looked at putting a Millenium style body on it, even foamed one up, but glass is massively heavier than ali. It's pure function, not looks.
