Re: Cummins Suburban conversion
Very nice to see conversion projects like this come together so nicely, most I have seen have been a half finished hack job that gets sold a couple of times then off to the scrap yard, great work.

Oh man cool swap! After you get some miles on it give us a ring back with some fuel econ numbers (plus any other things that come up wrt the swap).
And love the old-school drop light!
Again, nice work!

Re: Cummins Suburban conversion
BCarr, I had a 96 3/4 ton 2wd std cab Dodge/cummins w/5sp and 3.55 gears. Normal town drive I got 19 about every day, on the road (quick example, going to Baja in 97 from Washington then on to Reno after the race then back North my average was almost 26MPG with a canopy and camping gear for 2) Granted the drive train weighs about as much as the whole rest of the truck. Ya I miss it........

4x4 would not work.Dodge transfer case will not talk to the chevy actuator.Had to swap out the tail piece of the dodge t/c and the chevy one bolted right up.We are in business.

Re: Cummins Suburban conversion
Finished it today.
All the extra wiring stripped from the computer.
Tranny is shifting into OD and lock up.
Did not have to use the winters shifter.Got the factory column shifter to work fine.
Got all the factory gauges working.
Came out this evening and I have a diesel leak, bummer. One of the lines on the injector pump is leaking but thats a minor detail
DMV inspection tomorrow and its on the road.
I am stoked.
I will put a couple of thousand miles on it before I do any mods. Prolly paint it and install the warn winch and upgrage about 75hp.
Pics soon

I put 100 miles on it yesterday.
Lost the blinkers and brake lights.Other than that it drives really nice and has plenty of power.
The wife even rode in it and said it was smooth.
I'm stoked.

Re: Cummins Suburban conversion
Congrats Ziggy! Glad it worked out for you. I doubt you'll stop at 75the more horsepower. It gets addictive and those Cummins engines are good at making a lot more than that!!! I've seen a lot of 500 to 600 horsepower daily drivers!!!
