If he was waiting for Nasser, he might as well just stop. He has not done that. That would end any chance he has of winning the rally. Nasser is starting 11th, which means RG would have to wait 30 minutes for Nasser to catch up.

I think it ends up being more time than he was down. Approx 5 min for the first stage, another 3 for the water line and like 10 for the tow out of the mud. Rough guestimate from looking at the splits.
