Re: Blade In The Desert Parker 425??
To this end, why not just grade and pave the entire course so that everyone can enjoy this "off road racing" scene? I know some moms in minivans that want to participate in this activity...my question to the BLM is -why should they be excluded? .... let's make sure everyone gets a hug and a gold medal at the finish line.
Seriously, I only wish the BLM would hold recreational target shooters to such a standard..... get after the dumbphawks that leave blasted furniture, computer screens, televisions, and the like, out in the desert after their "sport" is over (out of beer).

Re: Blade In The Desert Parker 425??
Osborne wash is always flat after a good rain and it is amazing what a good wind does out there. I ran the Bluewater course about 3 weeks ago and the wind had flattend out all the bid whoops, it looked just like glamis after a week of wind.

Your right about that, and the new road on the left of the power lines will be nuts. If there is no wind we wont be able to see a thing for those 10 miles or so and it is going to be deep. already our trans was overheating in it and so a lot of other prerunners we helped along the way. After the first lap that stuff will be crazy.

Re: Blade In The Desert Parker 425??
In Osborne Wash, just past our check at mile 4, when you make the right hander and head for the Shea Rd. crossing, the course is "marked" down the middle of the wash. The middle "marked" road has a whooped out section for about 200 yards, just before you get to Shea Rd. There are roads to either side that are flat and smooth, and also clearly marked "W" for wrong way, yet during the race, as well as the pre-run yesterday morning, racers deviate from the marked course to avoid the whoops, and take these smoother trails. So, I don't quite get why some are getting their panties in a bunch over some blading!! We did a bit of riding in the wash yesterday, and the pole line road leading to the drop off was bladed, but the sections along Shea looked to be as bumpy as ever, and from the drop to well past Shea Rd, no blading. There was some work done on the inbound side of the wash from the canyon towards the quarry, but that was the extent of what we saw in our area.

Fish, didn't you know? We out here in keyboard expert-land can turn ANY one of the RDC threads into a bash thread.... cuz that is what we do.
One can only wonder if the BLM is gonna start making moto race organizations blade the course after a race..... they better not do it in Western CO... we love our whoop sections!

Re: Blade In The Desert Parker 425??
Yes fish, lots of blade. Roughest part is the sections that were used in the BWDC.
Lap 1 will be FAST for the front runners, really soft in the new pole line road. From Midway back in is not for sissy's, a blade went thru, but its still technical slow stuff for a while.
Bottom line - people are still going to not make it around. Single track dominates this course and people are going to get bit trying to pass in the weeds.

Re: Blade In The Desert Parker 425??
BTW. The course was bladed LAST year after the 425. So technically it is in its "restored" state right now.

Re: Blade In The Desert Parker 425??
My first time out their and had agreat time, bladed or not.Still lots of terrian to destroy yourself if you want to.
The powerline around MM 50 is a huge power suck and was really soft. I was pinned in 2nd at 4500 rpm's going 60 ish the whole way up it bouncing off the sides trying to stay out of the soft stuff. But only because I hate getting stuck.
