Ford hook back up with Robbie and build a Raptor SUV or introduce a new Bronco. Power coming from a Rousch/Yates bullet.
From an outsider's perspective(which isn't really of any value), it makes perfect sense for Ford to pursue a relationship with Robby, IF they were at all interested in producing a Raptor for the Dakar.
But, even at that, they both would have a large gap to bridge.

Re: which body for rg?
I think Dakar would be a good fit for Ford. But we need to look at it from other than a US perspective. While the Raptor is really cool, they only sell them in North America and we know that we here at rdc are the only Americans watching. However, Ford sells a lot everywhere else in the world where they care. They have a new Ranger that is popular in South America and other desert places like Australia and South Africa (deVilliers and Ford has a Ranger factory there). Ford also has a WRC effort as well has supported other lower rally divisions and North American off road series.
Chrysler/Jeep/Fiat would also fit with his NASCAR connections and the international reach of Fiat and Jeep. They do sell jeeps worldwide.
The problem with GM is they don't really have any off road cred anywhere outside North America since Hummer was euthanized. I don't know what they gain from Dakar.
What about something Asian like Nissan or Mitsubishi?

Re: which body for rg?
Didn't he get a 3 year Homologation for the Hummer and since it isn't in production anymore he has to go with another make? I though I read that before the race. If he doesn't get manufacturer support it would be easier to pick an existing GM body style that is in production ( Escalade / Tahoe ) so he can keep his engine package.
I think the ASO is going to throw some curveballs at him. Hopefully FIAT/ Chrysler comes on board and he can put a Hemified SRT Jeep on the dirt soon and spank those Minis again.
When in doubt, paddle out.

Re: which body for rg?
Just saw a commercial for the new Dodge Durango while watching the NFC playoffs. Looks like they are promoting it pretty good. Put a Durango body and a HEMI and rock it for next year. Need a team player for a second entry and a chaser T4 and please fix the alternator issues. How many did they change out? Had to been 8 between the 2 Hummers on course. Can't make those mistakes. Maybe need to redesign to a motor plate like the cup car. Good job on the top 5 RGM. Keep it up!!

As of now the Hemi engine needs to be developed to get where the current engine package is. There could very well be testing going on and we arent aware of.
If GM wants to spend the money, it would be much easier than going another route

Cadillac is big in racing with the CTS-V, So maybe an Escalade body would be the cheapest way to go and GM would have to spend nearly as much money to develop a new car as dodge would. Not a new car but engine and body at the least.

Open class doesn't have engine/body matching rules, or is Schlessers buggy a French free pass card?
