so what now?
now that rg has finished 5th in the raid, will the aso still throw out his appeal and list him as being DQed after the fia review? even after proving them wrong? personally i don't think they much like being humiliated and they'll end up DQing him anyway.

Re: so what now?
IMO, I think RG will win this appeal. If it's in fact the same system he's been using the last five years, and it was passed through the inspectors at the start of the rally each time, then I think there's no legitamite grounds to actually end up officially DQ'ing RG from the rally. And on Stage 12 he even showed they could get the same pace with that tube plugged up/removed. They know how popular RG is, and if they want him to participate next year, DQ'ing him for nothing would be a stupid move to make.

they're more than capable of being stupid though. they've already proved that by suspending him in the first place.

and, if the truth were known, with the french being as vain as they are, i really don't think they much give a rats ass if rg shows up again or not. the only thing that might change that is the money that they make from memberships and the entry fees. i think the aso thinks he's a pain in the ass and steals their thunder and they don't like it one bit.

Re: so what now?
His appeal is to FIA, which is not the same organization as ASO. They are both French though.
My guess is that FIA will say that RGs setup does technically violate the rules, but since there isn't a performance advantage they will levy some kind of time penalty instead of the DQ. They will also tell him he can't use it anymore.

Re: so what now?
as i originally posted, the review will be done by the fia. and the fia should chew the aso's ass out for approving it to start with after rg submitted the design at tech. this in no way, shape or form should disqualify rg in my opinion. this was a hijack after rg won a stage and posed a threat to their hero peterhansel . pure and simple. and peterhansel might be a nice guy off the track or course , but he's a competitor and he'll say whatever it takes to keep from getting beat, and that includes calling rg a cheater.

Re: so what now?
I suspect that the FIA will reverse the DQ and mandate that no exceptions will be allowed in regards to the restrictor plate rules. Robby said he had a signed document from the aso so he has proof that it was deemed ok. So technically speaking if there was a performace advantage the aso gave it to Robby by allowing him to run it, the aso is also at fault for not following FIA rules. I think that Robby needs to present this to the FIA in that manner.

Re: so what now?
I think RG could win if he shows up at the hearing with some fast talking lawyers,I think the aso isnt so concerned now that the race is complete and RG didnt podium.I think they like most of the exposure he brings to the event, although they most likely dont like him or what he's saying.Im sure win or lose he will be welcome back after 50 lashings/fines/ and of coarse he will be of double secret probation.
Im kinda a big deal around here

Re: so what now?
I think RG will be DQ'd! If the can't make the air after the restrictor look bad enough, they'll go for donuts on the freeway
I wouldn't think it really matters that much in the big picture, but am concerned about what changes they make in the regulations to slow the Hummers down next year!Maybe RG should start practicing running 33s
Excellent race coverage on the forum BTW! Klaus, Randy S, Ferrari, Mark Miller, DesertDog, RGFan and all others who made this so much fun to follow: Many Thanks and Hats Off!!!

I did mention earlier that the FIA will be limiting the top speed to 190 kph for 2WD vehicles, so when this happens I hope everyone doesn't think it's just because of Robby. LOL
