Here it is. Look at 18:55 in this video. This is the assistance that Robby said Roma should be dq'd (or severely penalized) for outside assistance. My understanding is Robby has filed a formal protest. Note the non competitor vehicle along with all the non competitors towing/aiding Roma out of the sand hole.

Now that's kinda funny - did he file a formal protest against himself as well??
I doubt that all the people aiding Gordon and put him back on the wheels are competitors.......

Many thanks. I hadn't seen that segment from Eurosport.

You're forgetting the fact that 2WD can have unlimited suspension travel. This can be a huge advantage over the 4x4 in certain areas.

    To make it simple -

4x4 - 10" of travel, no CTIS, 170 kph top speed
4x2 - Unlimited travel, CTIS allowed, bigger dia tyres, 190 kph top speed

Good point the suspension travel does help alot. Obviously both classes have their pros and cons but ultimately I think it boils down to how one exploits the pros the most will determine how well a car will do. Meaning how the car is built, runs and is driven. The biggest dog doesn't always win the fight, that's why I root for the underdogs .
