Re: The “Redneck Blower”, fact or fiction?

AP 2 hours ago. The ASO announced that all past Dakar Rally Participants will be disqualified for their finishing position due to having an air inlet post restrictor inlet. They have requested all non-French participants and all participants that had a PVC valve installed during their rally return their finishing trophies immediately.

Re: The “Redneck Blower”, fact or fiction?

OK ! OK ! Taking a step back, here is my as impartial as possible take on the whole thing... the fool that I am

I take the point now that it is probably possible that had they wanted to, RG could have set up and both him and Nasser could have been playing the air inflation system to sneak air past the restrictor. What RG said in the first instance was that he did not have the system set up to do anything like that, and the officials had been aware of the fact that the system was not set up to do any such thing and hence they had approved it for this year and the years before.

Apart from what he did on the last stages to prove that (i) he wasn't cheating and that (ii) he didn't need to cheat, I think a fresh look at the base specs of the cars is in order. The Minis weighed 1900 kgs while the Hummer was only slightly heavier at 2014 kgs. Hummer runs bigger tires but probably has a more efficient transmission with 2wd. The Dakar site puts Mini's 3.0 Diesel TT output at 315 cv (french for BHP equivalent, I assume) whereas the RGM 6L V8 output is not listed. I am not able to calculate how much the V8 makes post the restrictor but I am sure that this board can take a calculated guess. Anyways even by picking up a conservative number off the air and doing some simple maths, I just don't see the point of RG taking on all the risk when he knows he's so much faster than the fastest cars to start off with..... It just doesn't make sense!

HOWEVER If the ASO upholds RG's disqualification (which I am 90% sure they will), they would base it on the principle that by creating the possibility of the air sneaking RG had violated rules such and such of the rule book. It did not matter to the inspecting officials, and probably would not matter to the appelant body that Dakar inspectors were (or were not) aware of the possibility of an air sneak at the start of the race. So Sorry Robby and All the best for 2013!

And I'm not checking for spelling mistakes Peace !

All true, no facts, no fiction. Nothing more than "good ole" uncompressed AIR.

    Dakar: Robby Gordon's exclusion confirmed

    By Emmanuel Rolland,

Robby Gordon learnt, while preparing for Sunday’s Daytona 500, that his exclusion from 2012 Rally Dakar had been confirmed in Paris, on Friday.

Back in January, Robby Gordon had been excluded from Rally Dakar for technical irregularity on his Hummer. An appeal by the American allowed him to finish the race, and take a provisional 5th position overall.

    However his protest didn’t stand.

The judgment from Dakar’s marshals was seconded by the national court of appeal of the French Federation of motor sports.

Gordon was therefore re-excluded from the rally.

Re: The “Redneck Blower”, fact or fiction?

    So what does that mean?
Either the FIA thinks that the CTIS does more then RG claims.... or they think that it doesnt matter since it still violates the rules, even if there is no performance gain (to set an example that they mean business).

RG's claim that ASO/FIA approved the system makes me think its the former, rather then the later. though they may not have realized exactly how it worked.

Is this the end of the appeals process?

Re: The “Redneck Blower”, fact or fiction?

If he threatens to win again he will be DQed for farting upwind of the air filter. They know about it "butt" they are saving it. B/S about the inflation system inlet not being noticed by screwteneering, they saved it to insure a good show and make sure he couldnt win.

Anybody that thinks that is the toughest race in the world needs to go to the baja 1000.
I want to see some guys with girls names show up with there minis for that!, excuse me is this the bivowac?.
