So, you've raced both? I don't think you understand Dakar very well.

Either the FIA thinks that the CTIS does more then RG claims.... or they think that it doesnt matter since it still violates the rules, even if there is no performance gain (to set an example that they mean business).
RG's claim that ASO/FIA approved the system makes me think its the former, rather then the later. though they may not have realized exactly how it worked.
Is this the end of the appeals process?
I found a French article that stated he could still ask for an arbitration hearing. I couldn't find anything that provided the reasons and basis for the decision though. FIA publishes some of the decisions at their site, but I didn't see anything there yet either.

Re: The “Redneck Blower”, fact or fiction?
Read most of this thread, and while I have ZERO expert knowledge to contribute here is my take on the whole shabang.
I tried to follow a little bit when I could of the 2012 Dakar. Robby and Nassar seemed to have quite a bit of coverage via marketing avenues across the world.
They were high flyin, 4 wheel drifting, tire deflating, horsepower making, belt shredding, body changing racers.
Robby didnt win overall? Oh well. Nasser quit? bummer. I dont think that besides Robby putting a Dakar OA win on his resume that really anything would be different right now. He got DQ'ed? wow, he's back in the eyes of everyone again. When was the last time the winner got any press in the last 2 weeks?
I see Dakar as a marketing place for RG. Win, draw, lose, he will be a big show like always. That is his style. Donuts at the finish of a Baja race? How about jumping the table top podium at Dakar?
Robby is the Dale Jr of the Dirt. Lots of fans, lots of enemies, always in the spotlight if he has any say in it, but not always on the top of the box.
FWIW.... I'm a Robby dork.
