The car has a bone stock LS1 in it at the moment, but that is the same engine it had when JT Taylor won the Ultra4 Stampede in Reno last year and came third at the Glen Helen Grand Prix.

Torchmate set the car up with Radflo shocks but I hear that Robby is putting Kings on it for King of the Hammers. I would not be surprised if he puts his own shocks on it in the future though if he gets hooked on Ultra4 racing.

rg and rock crawling just doesn't sound right to me. monster trucks and rg didn't either. i just don't think rg has the patience for it and will become bored. it's just another feather in his war bonnet of things he's done in motorsports to warrant him as being the most versatile driver ever in the history of auto racing in my opinion. there's just not enough speed involved for him to take this on as anything more than an exhibition. it's great for the rock crawling community though, that's for sure.

and I believe Lance was Roger's co-driver as well. Should be a good combo. Hopefully Robby can get the car set up for his style of driving... Rock crawling is all about how good your navigator is in all reality.

rg has the best instincts in off road competition but he knows this will depend on his co-driver and will trust his calls i'm sure. this is no place for a cowboy one man show for sure and rg knows it.

Truth! He made the right decision going with Lance to navigate. I think he will do great out there.

Roger won in a class that had half a dozen other competitors at the most. RG is jumping into the deep end of the pool racing against 99 other competitors in the biggest race in rock sports with a LOT of talent and preparation. The analogy just doesn't fit this time Randy.

I do agree with Choptech though that Lance is a great match for Robby and will be a huge benefit in the race. I predict that they will have issues that push them back to mid-pack, but RG and Lance will finish. Hopefully Robby gets hooked, I would love to see what innovation he brings to KOH and think that he certainly has the potential to win in the future with the right preparation.

Re: Robby Gordon to Race at 2012 King Of The Hammers

Robby can make enough time up in the desert sections in that TTB car with his skills behind the wheel they should have a little time to loose in the rocks if needed. That race is won or lost in the desert sections. and as I said when crawling the navigator is the one doing the real work (route planning and guiding) so I think they will do quite well considering he has one of the best navi's in the sport. My biggest worry is them getting the car Robby-proofed before the race and having lots of spares.
