brake pads squealing
I have a prerunner buggy with Gear One four piston calipers, EBC green stuff pads and vented rotors. As soon as I hit the brakes once or twice they squeal really bad, like ear piercing bad. Is there any miracle cures to stop this? The rears are 6 piston and don't make any noise, just the fronts.

Re: brake pads squealing
Do you happen to know what compound you are running on the rear pads? Some good RACE compounds will squeal, but some quiet compunds may not be agressive enough to really stop strong.

Re: brake pads squealing
The EBC Greenstuff pads (2000, 6000, and 7000 series) are not race pads. Supposedly they have a street compund and a couple features to prevent noise. If they have a line cut down the center of the pad then they are that series. That line is to quiet them a bit and for cooling too.

Did you bed them in properly?

Re: brake pads squealing
They have the grooves cut in them. What is the best way to bed them in? they are new pads and new rotors.

Re: brake pads squealing
Make sure you have no caliper grease on them or that they been hit by any break cleaner.

Did you take some sandpaper to the pads?

The rear 4 piston Wilwoods on Ole Yellar, my bronco, squeal with an ear piercing shreek with new pads. Like loud enough that even a Sportsman Moto racer can hear them!
Is there supposed to be some sort of metal shim or clip to keep them from vibrating? What causes the noise? I don't remember what pads they are.

Chamfering the edges of the pad with a bench grinder has worked for me.
Specializing in round and round, up and down, and back and forth.
