Something that could save your life.

Make a sticker or write your blood type on your helmet. Also list if you have any allergic reactions to pain killers / meds, any medical conditions (diabetes, blood disorders, ect).

The five minutes it takes may save your life.

A few had it on their helmets and I thought it was a good idea. I had never thought about it in the past, so figured others had not either.

No longer will I wait for an accident to happen to make suggestions on safety. My next crusade will be to increase requirements on fire suits. Too many single layer suits with holes/fraying and suits without a SFI/FIA rating.

Great thread Chris. Really does help rescue out to know meds and allergies to meds. Also knowing any med history.

I have my blood type painted on the left side of all my helmets since i was 12 that was 38 years ago most of my fire suits have it sewn in the side of my name tag, any alergys you had better have a set of dog tags. Good post this one needs to go where the trans blanket needs to be before someone really gets hurt.

I heard about this a long time ago and ordered an at home test to confirm my blood type. The funny thing is, I did the test months ago and had already forgotten the results. Wife and I searched the house a few min ago and found the card and I just wrote it on my helmet. Thanks to this thread.

It's a simple thing to do. Let me make it easy on ya, go here: http://www.amazon.com/Blood-Type-Kit.../dp/B000FSOCR4

Order the test, prick your finger and write it on your helmet.

it's my understanding that the paramedics and air evacuation personnel use a universal batch of blood that works on every type, but i don't know for sure. we've always listed our blood types on our helmets anyway though. and i wear my dog tags too. in mexican races where it's important to have your passport on you to more easily get to a us hospital, i wear one of those nylon passport chingaderas you hang around your neck. holds passport, dl, money etc. good thread topic for sure.

Better yet , why not run down to the nearest blood donation bank and GIVE BLOOD !! . They will tell you your blood type , give you a cholesterol # and save someones life in your name.. Even bitchy ol guys have a heart . My blood type turns out to be O neg neg .. universal and premature baby saver stuff , It sure makes a person feel all warm inside just knowing you can spend $0 and help someone live. If you can please take the time . If you cant thats ok too! Someones mom , child ,wife ,friend . will thank you for it .Might be kool to start a donation in the name of FAST AID in your town. GB. Tim.

Meyers Racing had the great idea of putting your medical history, contact information and the likes on a usb flash drive and then place it on your person in some fashion ( modern day DOG TAGS)! I thought this was a fantastic idea! Most medics have a source to read these nowadays! This just might save your life!
