Them Rock Donkey's would 'stay close' to the top TT teams. It's already happened in Desert and Short-Course. Don't laugh so much with your eyes closed.

agreed, comparing apples to oranges in terms of vehicles, but not drivers. A skilled driver could do both well IF they practiced both skill sets. Why don't you think a Rock Racer could drive a TT just as well as a Desert Veteran? RG drove a rock racer car fast enough to stay with the top guys at KOH...until he got to the rocks.
Which racer are you talking about? Shannon Campbell maybe? He raced a new 'truggy' in the desert against some Class1/TT teams and got top 5 multiple times. (?) Marty Hart was an old rock crawler guy and has dominated Short-Course. (?) Brad Lovell is also a rock guy that won a championship in SC and does well in desert racing events. (?) Walker Evans was competitive in both. I could keep going....

My eyes arent closed at all. There lotsa TT teams and I agree that a disciplined rock guy could run with plenty but it would be unlikely to see them in the top. These dudes do not play nice when the green flag drops.

I'm Not saying Bryce is a bad driver or that driving the TT would be easy for Randy....I'm just saying THE DESERT RACERS DON'T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST ROCK RACERS @ KOH.
Arent you also saying that Rock Racers would dominate at desert?

RG doesnt drive. He uses his tires to control the rotation of the earth... But seriously everyone at hammers seemed to love to hate on him... I heard cheers from the megatron when they announced he wasnt gonna continue...

UM, Marty was a factory honda guy since the early eighties. He got like third place overall (on a 3 wheeler) back then. Im not sure saying his roots are in rock crawling is very accurate but feel free to correct me.

His off road career had some dabbling in Rock Crawling but, again, please dont make it sound like he did an occasional crossover to desert racing. Please...
It seems to me you have backpedaled a bit by now saying a disciplined racer who practices the other form of racing would do well when earlier it sounded like you were saying driving a TT would be something with not much of a learning curve to it. The saying Practice makes perfect" is a cliche for a reason....
All these desert/sc drivers you mention are basically legends. They are disciplined guys who are really good at winning. The format, rock or desert, or shortcourse, is secondary. Hell, walker wasnt terrible when he ran NASCARs Truck series. All of them can drive and then can all prolly drive the wheels off anything. Shannon has had some good results in his moonbuggy too. Hes an animal.
But, im willing to bet that a TT racer will win a Hammers race before a Rock Guy will win a TT race.

That's not a fair bet since a TT race-car and budget requires a tad more money than most Rock Guys have access too. Let's face it, there is way more money floating around on the desert racing scene vs. rock racer scene.....which kinda proves the point that you can't buy your way into winning a race even with the best equipment. Just ask any top desert guy that tried to race KOH!

You touched on something that I have believed for years. The bike roots. I have had a few drivers drive my cars over the years and now I will only let an experienced bike rider behind the wheel. They understand the importance of a good line, momentum and look ahead and usually avoid rocks. I believe Randy is the driver he is because of the bike rider he is. I'd go so far as to say that a top bike rider, given the chance and the car, could dominate at KOH.

I wasn't in the car and didn't hear the talk between Lance and Robby, but I would really like to know who decided to drive the waterfall at Wrecking ball. That was a very questionable decision.
