I hope so, especially after this close call. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d0LfICb-Ugk
If Nissan's motorsport division is NISMO, what is Honda's motorsport division?

Re: Rock Bouncers!!! Are they for real?
Never thought I'd see rock bouncers and SRRS on this forum. This is what they do in my neck of the woods and even though it's fascinating to watch for the first 5 minutes, I really don't get all the sensation around it. I'd rather be the guy from Arkansas who wishes more Baja style racing would come this way than see this grow.

Here is another safety concern, skip to 0:55
No fire extinguishers and no preparation for a quick response if a major fire broke out. This man is very lucky IMO.

Re: Rock Bouncers!!! Are they for real?
At the SRRS 2012 finals in Hot Springs, Arkansas, they were better prepared. It's always best to have both a buggy-mount extinguisher for those places where help will not be close at hand, and, wherever possible, have well-equipped bystanders. I like this approach to have the fire can within the driver's reach. I see a lot of back-of-the-buggy-mounted extinguishers that could be a real problem in cases where the driver might be trapped and would need quick access.
And as you can see here, if all else fails, make sure one of your buddies is ready with a tree branch to slap the flames into submission.

these guy would be fun to watch for a while but I doubt in this form ready to compete against the vehicles that have evolved into fun rock racers instead of rock crawlers from a few years ago

Re: Rock Bouncers!!! Are they for real?
These rigs would have to be revised for KOH, but not at all outside the realm of possibility. With 2.5 to 5T Rockwells, welded rear spools, and heavy cages, nothing is going to break. But in a 140 mile race, I would think their 400-700hp engines would overheat or run out of gas if the stiff ride didn't rattle them senseless first. I've been to two of these races; the buggies are built to bounce and climb fast, and they do it well.

Looks like one of the rock bouncers hauled their rig out to Johnson Valley during the KOH this year.
